Pell grant?

I have a question about pell grants and how they figure the maximum credit hours you can receive one on.

I'm in a part time program so I will have my RN in 3 years. Each semester is about 8 to 9 credit he's but it says I have been approved for 5500 a year but only recover a little over 1300 a semester, which I assume is based on 6 credit hours right? So does that mean even tho I'm taking 8 or 9 credit hours that they are only counting it as 6 towards my 90 credit hour limit?

I tries to search to see if this has been discussed but I couldn't find anything.

uhms...let's see if I can help out. so you were awarded the full amount for the Pell Grant right? 5500? It is based on your EFC. Full time status means you get the full amount divided into semesters/quarters whatever system your school uses. So if your part time then it should be calculated based on that. If you're taking 8 or 9 credits than that is less than full time but more than part time. Usually 12 units is considered full time.

If you are taking 8-9 units then that would be counted towards your 90 units max, not 6. It all depends on the number of units you take in order to determine your status, ie full time, part time, etc. So you may have been awarded the full pell grant based on your EFC but it does not mean you get the full amount.

I hope that helps. If you have more specific questions, I might be able to answer. =)

Ya that helped a little. Problem is I have taken 9 credit hour semester before in prerequisites and I revived a little over 2000 then so I'm confused why I'm only received 1375 now.

I thought maybe being a special program like nursing maybe billing was a little different and didn't always exactly correlate to what they say your credit hours were.

I honestly don't even know if 90 is my maximum either. Going by what they are saying what credit hours are required for the PN and RN programs I will need 60 for pN and 88 for RN.

ETA: ok I just found something that said that you can receive 600% of your estimated amount and I looked up my lifetime pell grant eligibility review and it said I've used 275%. So I guess I can draw a little more than 300%. So that would be like 3 more years at full time status.
