iPads & eBooks.... 2015!

Hi all! I begin Nursing school on May 11th and have been enjoying (while at the same time getting nervous) reading all the posts here! It's been a long road (this is my second career – I just celebrated my 43rd bday recently!) but my pre-req's are complete, and I had my orientation last week!

I have a question that I've been able to find some information on, but nothing too current – and since it's technology related, my thought is that the more current opinions I can get the better.

Who's currently using ebooks on their iPad, and what do you think? Also, there are different platforms (Kindle, Elsevier Pageburst, etc). What do you like? I was looking into Elsevier (they own both Pageburst on the Kno platform as well as the Vitalsource platform). The Kno looked really promising, but it has horrible reviews regarding the iPad app.

Since I work full time, and spend a lot of time on the road for my job, I'm considering getting an iPad (or iPad Air) in an attempt to make things a bit easier for myself during the next 18 months of the program. Often I end up with some unplanned free time during the day (often on the road) and I thought having a few of my textbooks available (and very portable) could be beneficial. Carrying a huge textbook around with other work related equipment doesn't seem practical on a daily basis.

Also, the thought of taking notes in class with an iPad with our PowerPoints is intriguing, but I'm not sure I'd be up to the task with my two finger-typing!

Thanks! jeff

Thanks for all the great input! Made my decision that much easier! 👍
