Introducing Myself!

Nursing Students General Students

Hi everyone,

I am brand new to the forum, I don't know if this is a tight-knit community or more just random posters. I am a student--just turned 23 actually and wrapping up my BA in liberal arts. For the past year I've been trying hard to figure out what to I want to do as a career with no luck! I never considered nursing before because I've heard a lot of negative things about it--about how nurses are worked to death, unappreciated, etc. There are a lot of doctors in my family and I've never really wanted to be a doctor but it never occurred to me that i may want to be a nurse! So here I am, and I think this is what I want to do. I'm tired of my liberal arts degree and ready for a change, and I'm looking forward to starting to take my prereqs but I'm just nervous! I only have one completed so far, the easiest one-nutrition (I'm interested in the post bac bsn programs by the way). Anyway, any advice? I hope I'm on the right track! My undergrad gpa is currently 3.77 and I hope with hard work I'll be able to make mostly A's in the science prereqs.

Hi Liz!!!! Welcome! I'm actually in my last semester of nursing school. Nursing is a great career. it can be thankless and sad at times, but very fulfilling! Make sure you do well in your pre-reqs, because i'm sure you are aware of the increased competition into programs. Looks like you are on the right track. Good luck to you and feel free to message me anytime!
