Kathy, Spill, Jaxia ---- it was nice seeing you all this afternoon. Nice to meet you Kathy. It was especially nice finally meeting you Jaxia since you have been my little buddy on here for the longest! :icon_hug:

Oh my gosh - we are just starting and I am already freaking out. Glad you all know CPR!

Spill --- we have to get together and practice our skills! I'll check tomorrow and see if they have any "open labs" scheduled. If anyone else wants to practice then let's set something up.

It was really great to put a face to Kathy & Jaxia, and to meet you finally.

Amy, I'm looking forward to working with you in open lab, just sign us up for whatever works for you, tell me when, and I'll be there.

Ok, I'm off to crack P & P and get some reading in before I remember I have cable and get stuck in tv land!

Just wanted you to know Jaxia & Kathy I got the lecture downloaded to my computer! Woo Hoo! Thank you! Now if I could just figure out how to transfer it to my itunes so I can listen to it on my ipod instead of sitting in front of the computer...can anyone help with that?

LOL!! I'm old...I've never used an I-Pod, so I don't have a clue...however, I know that Jaxia just got one with her new car last night, so maybe she's the one with the knowledge! If you can believe it, we already had one person drop from our clinical section! He just "couldn't afford to invest the amount of time it appeared it would take"! I was thinking ... he'd better now let anyone who was on the wait list, or waiting for re-admit hear him say that, because he'd get beat down in an alley for waiting until it was too late to admit someone else! How can you not know??? I think Kanora was crystal clear about it! Geez...some people!

Hope all is going wonderfully for everyone!

Amy and Spill -- It was nice to finally meet both of you! Amy, I agree It was nice to be able to have a conversation that didn't involve typing! I'm glad I managed to find you with my super sleuth detective skills -- lol

Spill -- Aww, how wonderful (Too bad I didn't see those BEFORE the meeting ) As for the iPod thing, I don't know yet. For some reason, every time I try to make any changes to the file (like making it a file type that might be supported by an iPod) it crashes my computer. I'll keep playing around with it, but I'm not sure if I can get it to work.

Yang -- (or do you like Yin better? ) Tooooooooooooo funny! I was wondering if you'd really do it I still cannot believe he dropped already. How did he miss that it was going to take a lot of time? Sheesh.

I submitted a request for change, but they didn't even tell me it was done...I just got an e-mail addressed Dear Yin Yang: a new message blah blah. I don't know how he could be unaware of the time investment. Kanora pulled no punches about it. Either he's dense as a rock, or was way over confident in what his abilities might be. Either way, it's bad karma to waste a nursing school position like he did. I'm not so sure those nachos were a good idea yesterday. I've been ill since 1 am!

Hey first semester NLC students, I have seen you today standing in line next to the restrooms. I assume it was about the drug test and nothing more. By the way, if anyone remembers a girl walking around in a "beautiful" guacamole green shirt, that was me.

    Katie,

I THINK I remember seeing you today when we were in the hall for drug test but not 100% sure. Did you try to enter the restroom and the lady told you it was closed? Spill and I went first. She made a big deal about us having to go practice our skills so we got to go before everyone else. It probably made others mad but it worked - good thinking Spill! Every time I see someone I always wonder if its you since I know you are around but have no idea what you look like.

No, it wasn't me. I saw that 50 people were waiting there so I didn't go.
When is your first skills check off?

First skills check off is Tuesday of next week and Test 1 is Wednesday of next week. I was really scared at first that I wouldn't get all the steps of vital signs but I have been practicing with Spill, Jaxia, and my "lab partner" so I do it pretty well now and have confidence. I just need to work on my narrative note since I really haven't been focusing on it. I don't feel well at all about physical assessment but then again we just started and Ms. J says it's one of the most difficult things. This brings up a question that a couple of us had. Are the skill check off grades just a part of what makes up the final grade for the 1460 class or do they make up the total grade?

Part of it...the other part is your clinical grade.

Remember, with the assessment, say things even if it doesn't apply. ie....Ask about his cough, if he doesn't have one, tell him if he develops a cough make sure to let you know if it's productive, and what color the sputum is. (Not exact words, but incorporate it the way you want to do it.)

    Good luck!!

We have lecture next to you on Wednesdays. I usually sit in third row, first column, close to the door. From the corridor you can peep in if you want, the instructor won't see you because she is facing us during lecture.
