Hello all im new here. I'm in my junior year of high school and i wanted to know what type of classes i should be taking to get into a Nursing program at a university. Right now I'm taking English,Algebra2,Chem,us history,Psychology, and spanish 3,Allied health 2 (medical Terminology). Do you think i should drop either spanish 3, allied health 2 and try to fit in Human Anatomy or just wait till my senior year. What would colleges for in classes in a student? I have heard the more science class you have the better. Also does taking College prep class, or Honors class matter?

In college nursing prereq's at my CC we take English Comp I for Associates Degree and I&II for BSN,(BSN involves transfer to 4yr college after prereq's) A&P I&II, Microbiology, Developmental Psychology, Philosophy, Algebra or equivalent higher math (I took Probability & Statistics), and Speech. Take sciences like Biology and Anatomy & Physiology if you can, and Algebra to get prepared. Anything your school offers along a medical line is good, and you can keep your foriegn language class for this year if you think you will go higher than a basic A.A.S. RN degree; you will need a college level foriegn language class at some point before your transfer to a 4 yr school as well. I'm covered up with reading this week so let me know if any of this doesn't make sense!:lol2:

I don't know about College Prep or Honors, you might be better off calling an admissions office at a school you want to attend and find out if it matters to them.
