Anyone Applying to PLU?

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone here has applied to PLU - for the Entry Level MSN Program. Has anyone heard back from them yet? Just curious :)

I applied to this program as well and have not heard anything back. I made a few mistakes on my application (not using the correct recommendation forms... ooops!) so I am not sure if I will hear later than everyone else or this hurt my chances to get in. Do you know how competitive this program is? I did ask the admissions assistant when we would know and she said end of this month/beginning of March... Good luck! let me know if you hear anything!!

Hello! Still no word... I spoke w/someone in their admissions office, and she said they'd received a lot of applications and that it will take longer than expected to review. It sounds like a first wave of acceptance letters went out mid-February, and more will go out through the end of March. Any news for you?? Good luck... :)

Hi,

I also applied to the ELMSN. Have not heard anything yet. Someone else who applied to the program received an acceptance letter in January. She was asked to send in her deposit by Feb. 13th. I think they may be sending acceptance out in batches based on the number of people who accept their offers.

Does anyone know how many people are accepted each year?

Still no news on my front, I am hoping the end of this week or beginning of next. I got into USD's program and they want a deposit by Mar 16, so I am hoping to know by then.

I am not sure how many are accepted each year, I would be curious to know as well, I doubt it is a very large program. Good to know that there are others that haven't heard :) Did you guys apply to other programs in the northwest?

No, I did not apply to any other programs in the NW. It seems this year there has been a large increase in the number of applicants to many of the programs so it's been extra competitive.

Good luck.

I got into the program!! I am so so happy :) Anyone else hear back?!?!

Congrats! Did you get a letter in the mail or an email? I'm still waiting.

Hi,

I got my acceptance letter from PLU around the end of January. I really wasn't expecting to hear until at least Feb/March, so it was a big, but very pleasant, surprise. I have sent in my acceptance letter, but also recently got a positive letter from Seattle University. I am about 90% sure of attending PLU. My pros and cons for attending each school are listed on another thread titled "Applied to OHSU and Seattle University ...". I'd love to hear from others regarding attending either school. I know that SU received around 200 applications, interviewed about 95 and accepted (I think) about 60. :yelclap:

Hi again,

I forgot to mention that as far as number of applications at PLU for the ELMSN program, I know that last year they received 121 and accepted about 30%. I haven't heard about this year's numbers.

Hi Barkley!

The more I think about it, I am pretty 100% set on PLU as well. Reading your pros and cons I think really hit the nail on the head. In the end, I just want to get the best education possible and be prepared to be a fantastic nurse practitioner! What solidified my decision was hearing from PLU's staff. I sent Amy Manoso an email with a huge list of questions, and she promptly responded to me with a very personalized email answering everything I asked about. I love how approachable and accessible the faculty are, and this is the type of environment I know I will thrive in.

Also in the email, she mentioned that they have a lifetime pass rate of the NCLEX of 100%! As opposed to Seattle U's 2008 class had an 80% pass rate (she told me). The numbers speak for themselves. It sounds like PLU will provide an extremely supportive environment, offers great clinical opportunities and the cohort is only about 20 people (10 to 1 student-professor ratio during clinical the first year- then smaller as you move into your specialty).

My final factor was cost of living in Tacoma is CHEAP (I live in Seattle right now) and I have heard good things about the North end of Tacoma. Even though its not close to PLU, I think that is the area I will live in.

So, if you decide PLU, I will see you at the orientation :) Good luck, and Congratulations on both!!!

Jalin,

So sorry for the late response! I just checked this for the first time in awhile. I got a large envelope in the mail and they asked us to respond by March 11, I send in my acceptance today! Yay! Hope you hear soon :)
