what do you do after you v been rejected by every single nursing school in your area?

Look elsewhere?

Look into doing something else?

Look outside your area?

Look at why you may have been rejected from so many schools? What were your stats, etc?

I decided to go the LVN route then transfer to a LVN-RN program. Finished my year long LVN program in summer 2005, started LVN-RN program in Spring 2006, finished that May 2007. Took me a year longer but so glad I did it. I was well prepared for the LVN-RN program, most of the info felt like a review for me.

All of the programs in my area (ADN & BSN) are really competitive. I wasn't planning on a LVN program - I just happen to be in the Directors office turning in my paperwork for the ADN program and the secretary convinced me to apply for the LVN program "just in case" I didn't get into the ADN program.

I also did the LPN program first and have no regrets.

Go to a PN/VN program and go from there.

What you do next really does depend on why you were rejected! It's impossible to give any advice until we know why.

Look at why you may be getting rejected... No pre-recs done, low GPA, not writing a good entry essay if they require it!

Expand your search for schools, be willing to move/commute.

Ask yourself, "why am I not getting accepted?". Some schools have a point system, go strictly off GPA, or only care about specific class grades, then some have a waiting list.

Is there anything you can do to improve your chances? Think about that.

There are also different programs to consider. I don't know if you are applying for BSN only but don't forget ADN or LVN/LPN programs.

If it's grades, I would consider working as a cna to gain some experience and meet some mentors that can be a guide. Nursing is very competitive so don't take the rejection personally. If you want this profession then do everything you can to get it, but be PATIENT. You may have to wait awhile to reapply so while you wait get your grades, experience, and most of all your attitude up! You can do it!!!

First, do as some above have suggested: Figure out if there's a reason why you were rejected, such as GPA, prerequisites not accepted or completed, low entry test scores, etc. Then set about correcting that stuff. If you are just as qualified as someone that was selected, then you should reapply when the next period comes around to do so. You might find yourself selected... You should also consider other schools outside your immediate area as well and apply to those, if it's feasible.

I turned in 15 applications - 2 every semester and my last two both ended up with me being offered a seat. It would have been 16 applications, but I wasn't quite 100% qualified for both programs that first semester. As soon as I was qualified, I applied and kept reapplying until I got in. I would have applied to Sac State (BSN program) as well but the University was closed to 2nd Bachelors students like I would have been.

I agree with what has already been said.....look at what is not making you a competitive applicant. If you need to repeat classes....do it.....if you need to retake entrance exams...do it.....

if your application is as good as you can get it...consider the LVN/LPN route....then do a bridge program. The traditional route is not the only route to becoming a RN.....

does schools in your area go by similar criteria or are they different? you may want to contact the schools themselves to see what you did wrong or why you weren't accepted to those schools.

could it be that you need to retake a certain test to get a better score?

dont give up if this is what you want to do. find out what you need to do and go from there.
