1Year RN Moving to Dallas!!

Hi everyone!

So as long as I've had an account w this site, I've never made a post until now! However, I have questions about a few hospitals in Dallas, so here we go.

A little background: I graduated w my BSN/RN last August and started working at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston as a part of a new grad residency program in October. That puts me at about the 6 month mark of working as a full fledged RN. My hospital switches you to RN I status after orientation, so that's what I'm technically classified as now. I currently work on an Acute Med-Surg unit specializing in transplants. I absolutely love my unit and co-workers! What I don't love is the city. Among other things, I'm just too far from my immediate family. I'm having to drive way to far too often to see them. Plus my parents are getting older and I don't want them on the road trying to come to see me so far away, etc. With that being said, I've decided to move to Dallas once my residency is finished this October (2017).

My question boils down to this: which hospital in Dallas would y'all recommend if I'm trying to get into the perioperative (1st choice) or ICU setting? I'm currently looking at UTSW and Texas Presby Dallas mainly. Possible also Parkland and Baylor. Are any of these hospitals more open to hiring someone like me to those units? And I of course have to ask about pay, currently making $28 wo shift diff. Benefits are meh, as I don't have any kids or a spouse currently.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post!! :)
