RN in Texas possibly relocating to NWA curious as to what type of jobs are available?

U.S.A. Arkansas

Hello all,

I am originally from South Arkansas. I moved to Mississippi directly after graduating with my BSN. I worked there for a year and a half, and then I moved to Texas. I have been working in Texas since 2008. I had to relocated due to my husband's work, but it looks like he may be getting a job in NWA at the beginning of the new year.

I have worked in PCU and Med/Surg Tele. I am currently working as a School Nurse. I am from Arkansas, but I have never worked there as an RN so I am curious as to what I can expect for a salary, and if there are a variety of jobs available. I have already done a little research into school nursing in Arkansas, and I do not think I will be pursuing that. I make $45,000 in Texas as a school nurse. The pay for a school nurse in Arkansas I have found to be substantially less.

I guess my concern is that I will end up working a med/surg night shift position. I really, really do not want to go back to that. It just isn't for me. I was thinking that I might could find something in a Physician's office, Public Health, or Home Health? I haven't found any jobs for this so far in my search. Does anyone know the best place to search for these types of positions? I have been using search engines like Indeed and Monster. What is the job market like for these type of positions? Are they few and far between? I'm not expecting the variety of jobs that are available in Houston, TX (where I currently live), but I am just hoping that I won't have to be back on the floor. Any information would be welcome! Thanks!
