Should nurses be expected to move X ray equipment for procedures?

I am employed by an anesthesia group that performs pain procedures, mostly under X ray guidance. My administrator feels that it's acceptable for RNs to move the X ray equipment for procedures if we don't have an X ray tech available, as long as the physician makes the actual exposure. I (as well as the other nurses) have told our administrator that we don't feel comfortable with this practice. We haven't been able to find anything in writing that can support the legal consequences of RNs using xray (besides the fact that we're not even trained to do this!!!) Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you're just moving the equipment and the physician is making the exposure, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to do this.
