Cross Training into Sonography/Ultrasound

U.S.A. Alabama

Published

Has anyone considered "cross training" into Ultrasound/Sonography? My niece, a new RN, is considering a cross training program into Echo. Since she is registered, it would take less time and less tuition. Due to the ever-changing economy, this would give her an additional option to persue.

She is taking an Alabama accredited "online" program at http://www.academyofultrasound.com

This is just a bit of info.

God Bless to everyone!

Something just doesn't sit right with me about that website. Maybe it's the freaky little side scrolling window thing that shows up and asks for your email address once you go to the site.. looks too much like spam just waiting to happen. Maybe it's the fact that they give you a discount if you pay in full up front.. My gut could, of course, be wrong about it. It's definitely happened before...but my initial reaction to it is a definite no.

Regardless of all that, there's still no way that I'd pay over $16k for an 18 month full-time program from a school that is not yet accredited. If you actually look at the website, it says that they are "working on their accreditation". If I really wanted to be an ultrasound tech, I'd just go for Wallace. They have an accredited program that's 6 semesters and costs less. It is competitive, but if it's what you really want to do then nothing should stop you. Just my :twocents:.

Anyway, good luck to your niece!
