What type of nursing do you do?

What kind of nursing do you do and what level of education do you have (and is it required for your job)? Oh and also, do you enjoy it? :)

I'm entering into a bachelor of nursing degree in the fall :yeah:and I'm just curious to find out different paths this degree could lead me down.

I will graduate on Wednesday, the 20th, with an AAS, and will begin orientation at my facility on June 8. I'll be working the telemetry floor. I did my clinicals and my preceptorship there, and I love the floor, the nurses and the patients. I feel very lucky to be there.

I have worked in step-down and ER, psych as a staff/charge nurse. I worked as a unit manager (2 units), risk management (briefly) and am currently in infection control and employee health for a psych facilitiy.

I did not need a bachelor's for the floor nursing, but for management and my current position it is required.

I have my ADN and am a school nurse (they want me to get my BSN so I can take the certification exam, which requires a bachelor's).

I've worked ER and school health, and will be starting in the OR in a little over a month.

As for me I am a tele nurse I have a BSN a lot of the nurses on my floor have ASN and you cannot really pick out those who have a batchelors and those who dont, we all work hard, we all have strengths and weaknesses, we all feel tired at the end of the day.

Sometimes I feel I am at a disadvantage having a BSN because I question practice and always want to know the rationale and where the research came out. At my facility this is not encouraged as it is very old fashioned, you do what you are told.

I guess I can classify myself as a community health nurse. I am an LPN who works in a city hospital clinic that services the poor and uninsured. We also do plenty of health fairs in the summer to encourage the patient to follow up on their screenings with a provider. I like what I do (more times than not). What I don't care for is the politics and BS involved with nursing, but that is another story. :D

Associate degree, ER. Never a dull moment, and you get to do a little bit of all the other types of nursing.

I'm in the NICU & I LOVE it...can't imagine doing anything else (at least for the time being). I have a BSN but no it's not required for my unit I don't believe.
