Have had a MacBook for 5 years now and I love it! Had not had any problems with it whatsoever. They are expensive, but I think they are worth it!

Ditto

I have a MacBook Pro. Love it! Definitely worth the $!

I just bought a brand new 15" MBP. It is a great machine.

Personally, I think for the average nursing-type student, a Macbook Air would probably be one of the best options.

Unless you have side projects that you plan to do or play graphically intensive games, it'll do most things you could want.

My husband has a Macbook that he loves. He's had no problems with it. I have a cheap Acer from Walmart, but I haven't had any problems with it. I think you'll be fine with whatever you get, honestly.

I've had a bad experience with my iPhone therefore that put me in a bad place with Apple products. Those people won't get another nickel from me. Lol I'm going to look into getting an HP.

It's up to you, MacBooks are great. It's just preference which I know for sure apple is much more expensive. You can get the same performance mug cheaper across the board.

I like MacBooks.

it totally depends on what you're using it for

look at this one for $500

Newegg.com - lenovo IdeaPad Z575 (12992PU) Notebook AMD A-Series A6-3420M(1.5GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD±R/RW AMD Radeon HD 6650M

its a perfectly good computer

114 reviews average out to 4 out of 5 stars (you can read the reviews by clicking on the feedback tab in the middle of the page)

if all you're doing is

1) email;

2) internet browsing and searching;

3) using MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint, MS Access;

4) creating and reading pdfs;

5) watching videos and DVDs;

6) using online classroom services (like Blackboard);

7) listening to music

then that laptop will do just fine

If you were going to look at windows based systems, I'd recommend looking at Asus. I've heard good things about them but never owned them.I've had 2 high-end HPs (between my husband and myself) that never left the house but yet had some serious physical issues. I'd personally never buy an HP again.

I had an HP too, messed up in a couple of days. I returned it ! I will never buy HP again. Maybe the system was just faulty but, I would not chance it, too many other brands out there.

I love my little Samsung NP305. The best thing about it, is it's tiny size (under 3 lbs.). I am in nursing school right now and some of my classes are in traditional rooms with tiny desks or auditoriums with pull out half desktops. Most of the other students struggle with the size of their computers. Plus, I didn't want to carry alot of weight. I think my binder containing all my notes weighs more than my laptop which holds all my books. I would consider weight and size and look at the structure itself. How portable and sturdy does it look? When I need more screen space I go home and connect my computer through an HDMI cable to my 52 inch Plasma TV. This works great for the podcasts and videos I have to watch. Plus I can put it in the "extended desktop" mode and have different windows open on my TV then I have on my laptop (does Mac have that function?) So I often have my book on the tv and a word document open on my laptop so I can type notes from the text. Sounds a little nerdy, but it works great for me.
