wow. sorry, but with the combination of capitals and shorthand, that was incredibly hard to read!

if you're not sure if you want to be a nurse, start by thinking about why you might want to do it.

do you like helping people? making a difference? seeing new things every day?...

make sure you also think about the bits that might turn you off.

what's your opinion on poo? how easily are you shocked or embarrassed?

i'm sorry to tell you that there is a certain amount of study involved, it's not always interesting, and like any curriculum, some of it seems completely unrelated to life in the real world. (i still haven't found any use for that calculus you forced upon me, Ms Schaap)

still, if it's the right choice for you, and you can hold on through the study, you'll find yourself in what i find is a very rewarding, endlessly interesting, but some days totally heartbreaking, career.

whatever you choose, good luck with it. we can always use new comrades.

Based on your post, I don't think it is for you. It takes concentration and tons of reading.

First thing is a nurse has to be able to communicate clearly so that people can understand them.

Your post is just so poorly written. Text speak, full capitals, and slang. Who is going to fill up the application forms for you?

The poster wouldn't make it through the first day of classes if this how they present in person.

I agree with the above posters, you come off as lacking the maturity and refined communication skills needed to be a competent nurse... Please do not become discouraged, you are still very young and may gain these skills over the next several years. However, a word to the wise, just about any "adult" career you choose will require a certain amount of reading and dedication to the not so interesting things at times. In fact, that is a large part of adulthood. The key is to find something you are passionate about and make it your own...

PS Sorry to crash into your discussion, I saw this on the "new posts" and didn't realize it was on the LVN student forum until after formulating an opinion...

I agree with the others. You'll come across as more serious if you avoided the use of too many abbreviations and "text message speak." In addition, typing your posts in all-capital letters on internet forums is construed as yelling, which is rude.

If you're as easily distracted as you say you are, there are methods to reduce distractions. If you want it badly enough, you'll find a way to accomplish this feat. I'm glad you have found this site to be helpful, and I wish you the best of luck!

Um.....trolling? At least I hope so because this can't be a serious post.

I was thinking the same thing!

ARE YOU SERIOUS??? STOP IT

Sometimes when you are not sure what you want to do career wise, try other options to figure out if the career is for you. You should entered into the Nursing Assistant Program or do some volenteer work at the hospital first before you decided to enter LVN school. I want you to succeed in anything that you do. Nursing is a serious career choice. It can't be taken lightly. People lives are in the nurse's hands and they will expect you to take excellent care of them. You have to be there for the patient's family also. Keep in mind that nursing school has a lot of reading and hard work. You have to make it through that first. Good luck on what you decide and don't give up.

I guess that's why English classes are a requirement.:eek::chuckle

*runs and hides*

But seriously, do what your heart desires, read into it, investigate what your up against(this site is great for information) and decide for yourself. :)

Yeah, I agree. Proper usage of the English language is necessary if you want to go to nursing school. Also, maturity at LEAST at a level that you are able to realize that there's a time and a place for everything.

As you can see from some of the posts on this thread, the simple ways of how you conduct yourself are really important. If you are serious about nursing, I feel bad about the harshness of some of the posts. Maybe take this as a lesson. You'll be communicating with MUCH more critical people (docs, etc.) as a nurse.
