  1. Are you still going to Hinds CC? I have a friend that goes there and she said that only the instructors friends make it through the program. That they help the students that they like and be rude to the students that they dislike to make them quit. I hope that this is not true or they need to be investigated. That is not professional at all. Maybe one apple is spoiling the whole bunch. I thought that Hinds was a good college to attend. My friend graduated from Hinds in 2009 and she did not like it. I hope that you are still hanging in there.
  2. Thanks Daytonite. I have been studying all night. I am on it. When you need help you have to get it for yourself in nursing. No one can do critical thinking for you. My eyes have become open to the real world. Study is my first, middle and last name. My care plans are going to be so good that my instructor is going to post it on the wall. Thanks again for your motivational words of wisdom.
  3. Sometimes we have problems with instructors that are not professional, but don't let that get you out of character just because they are being a bit nasty. Yes you will cry, but remember this you will graduate!!! It is hard to think critically when a grisly bear is trying to eat you. Your train of thought gone, epi is kicking in and boom that is it! Try to focus on wearing that nursing pin and waving bye to that instructor. It will be all over so hang in there. "Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning." (Psalms 30:5) You can do this Patricia1101!!!
  4. Hello, I have been having problems with postpartum diagnosis. I do my assessment by checking the LOC, breast, fundus, lochia, episiotomy or cesarean, homan sign, and clonus. If I have a problem in each area, I have trouble writing a nursing diagnosis for those areas. Can someone help me please!
  5. Don't just try to get into one particular school try several. Since you don't like the job that you are in and you want to get into nursing school quicker. Apply for the LPN and RN program and which one you get into first go for it. If you get into LPN first you can always go back for the RN one year program. I know how you feel working on a job that you don't like, but don't quit. Hang in there. Your day will come. I tried to get into Nursing Allied and was rejected every time. I was accepted at HCC.
  6. It is basic math and reading. You will be reading passages and answering questions pertaining to the passages. The math is addition, subtraction, fractions, percents, and intermediate math.

  8. :ancong!: Great news. :stdnrsrck:
  9. So how is second semester at Hinds? I think that hinds is a great school. I had a friend that attended Nursing Allied but he didn't stay because he had to take care of his family. He was passing his classes, but he had family issues. Keep on doing what you are doing and stay positive. You will make it!
  10. :balloons::ancong!: Geat news to hear.
  11. I am glad that you are doing well in nursing school. Keep the right attitude and stay positive. We always have to experience things for ourselves. Make sure that you get to know all of your classmates, because you all will need each other for support. Good luck.
  12. FF107 how is it going at Hinds in Rankin? I am praying that everything is going great for you. I know that Hinds is a tough school, but you can do it. Keep studying hard and reading all of your material, because it will pay off in the end.
  13. Sometimes when you are not sure what you want to do career wise, try other options to figure out if the career is for you. You should entered into the Nursing Assistant Program or do some volenteer work at the hospital first before you decided to enter LVN school. I want you to succeed in anything that you do. Nursing is a serious career choice. It can't be taken lightly. People lives are in the nurse's hands and they will expect you to take excellent care of them. You have to be there for the patient's family also. Keep in mind that nursing school has a lot of reading and hard work. You have to make it through that first. Good luck on what you decide and don't give up.
  14. I have several friends at Hinds and most of them made 20 and above with a GPA of 3.2-3.7. One of them made an 18 on their ACT and still got in. She has an Associate of Arts Degree and a 3.6 GPA. She was also a nursing assistant.
  15. Thanks tandi for your words of wisdom. I'm sure that I will be fine in school this fall, it is just nerve racking. I will pray for your success into 3rd semester at Hinds and you pray for me. We will make it through this.
