Vaccination Mandating

nurses-how-do-you-feel-about-mandatory-vaccination.jpg.294320ed3f6c038a5851c2ebe17ee015.jpg

I'm in NY. Wonder how other NURSES are feeling about mandatory COVID vaccination?

"patriot" is subjective. History doesn't repeat, it rhymes.

Home of the free until you're not.

Ah yes, Good ole socialism.

What on earth are you talking about?

I don’t know if listless has actually read Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben’s State of Exception, but I have. It’s not about Socialism, but rather totalitarianism and how constitutional rights can be diminished or taken away completely during times of crisis.

The quote about history rhyming is probably another one of the type of posts we’ve seen here before; likening vaccine mandates and other pandemic mitigation strategies to Nazi medical experiments and other historical gross abuses of power.

I’m guessing listless thinks that vaccine manadates are just the first step to you all losing all your freedoms and soon y’all will be living under authoritarian rule where only the opinions that the liberal rulers support, will be tolerated. Or something very close to that.

Listless is welcome to explain if I’ve misunderstood his position.

udy demonstrates the power of the human immune system, but infectious disease experts emphasized that this vaccine and others for COVID-19 nonetheless remain highly protective against severe disease and death. And they caution that intentional infection among unvaccinated people would be extremely risky. “What we don’t want people to say is: ‘All right, I should go out and get infected, I should have an infection party,’” says Michel Nussenzweig, an immunologist at Rockefeller University who researches the immune response to SARS-CoV-2 and was not involved in the study. “Because somebody could die.”

Did ya miss this paragraph from the study?  You can get antibodies the easy way or the hard way........

Comparing SARS-CoV-2 natural immunity to vaccine-induced immunity: reinfections versus breakthrough infections

Sivan Gazit, Roei Shlezinger, Galit Perez, Roni Lotan, Asaf Peretz, Amir Ben-Tov, Dani Cohen, Khitam Muhsen, Gabriel Chodick, Tal Patalon

doi: https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.08.24.21262415

This article is a preprint and has not been peer-reviewed [what does this mean?]. It reports new medical research that has yet to be evaluated and so should not be used to guide clinical practice.

You actually have the read the study, the whole study.  Not just the headlines which are click bait to get you to read the article.  I'm not reading the rest of these articles because the first 2 were pretty meaningless and it's a nice dayl.

Final reason as a healthcare provider protecting a patient's right to have informed choice is all our responsibility.

If we are willing to give up our own right, how easy will it be to take the next step and violate our patients rights.

LOL! Therefore, if their belief system contradicts with their patients need, they're willing to "violate," their patients' right. They're confused of their public role.

The problem is that people don't wear PPE in public unlike HWCs at work caring for the COVID-19 patients.

As all professional nurses know: Peer review is the gold standard to see if a study holds up to scrutiny.

https://www.science.org/content/article/having-sars-cov-2-once-confers-much-greater-immunity-vaccine-vaccination-remains-vital

Comes from a clearing house for articles and opinion pieces and there is no indication that it has been peer reviewed.

https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.24.21262415v1

Another clearing house for articles and again not peer reviewed. Quoted from the website,

"This article is a preprint and has not been peer-reviewed [what does this mean?]. It reports new medical research that has yet to be evaluated and so should not be used to guide clinical practice."

ttps://www.bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n2101

Not a scientific article and written by a freelance journalist and Twitter influencer, and yet again no peer review. Not sure I would trust it even if there was because the peers reviewing would by definition be other Twitter influencers.

ttps://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2777171

While it appears to be valid there is no information to support peer review.

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2021/sep/15/ron-desantis/fact-checking-desantis-covid-19-natural-immunity/

Not a scientific article and about Ron De Santis, the Florida Governor who is against masks and mandated vaccines and whose state has one of the highest rates of Covid 19 in the US.

So no you have not provided a single valid peer reviewed study!

...LOL but the study had to be conducted. whether it was published by the lancet is a mute point

"laymen"

A study is not considered valid until it has been subjected to a full peer review and you should know that!

It's okay guys, Just say you don't look at emerging data.

Nah...we'll just stick to facts and evidence and public health recommendations.  You get the privilege of being the member to say that untrue thing.

I am for it. Just read an article from “live science” that polled like eight health care facilities some huge and some small all averaging less than 2% that actually quit than get the vaccine which is great. Much smaller numbers than polls that showed like 50% would quit if mandated. It’s working.

Interestingly,  Pfizer is advertising their vaccine is safe for children 5 to 11 based on results that haven't been peer reviewed.

With that being said it's fair to say information is worth considering and being aware of even if it is a preprint. It doesn't mean it's valid or invalid if the basis of validity is peer review.

Listless-are you working at a vaccine mandating facility? If yes what will you do

I have read  “many” referring to nurses who are unvaccinated and or quitting due to mandates here and in the media but from polls and articles I have read from the last two weeks there are very few that quit and we have no nurses on my unit that are unvaccinated. When said and done hopefully that is a true and very small number.
