UTA Spring 2012

Alas! Here I go again!;) This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!:D

@Julie - I was accepted to the traditional program as well. Blackboard isn't showing anything for the orientation just yet for me either. I have mailed my acceptance back (certified mail) and I have completed my background check. Go to http://www.gp1.com/students. On the letter it is says "www.gpl.com/students" but that is incorrect. Once you are in there, it will ask names (previous names used too) and last 7 years of addresses. It will also ask something about licenses - but if you aren't licensed or certified in areas just hit continue.

Hope this helps!

And good luck to those still waiting on letters.

@nikkib375

Are you currently taking pharmacology? I'm so afraid of taking this final this is my last chance to get it right ...I'm barley passing. Ugh any other help or suggestions feel free to let me know. And thx for info, it was very helpful!

@Judy, yes, I am currently taking Pharm and Patho. What has REALLY helped me in Pharm is I do excel spreadsheets on every single class of drug (main characteristics) and then under each class/category I list every single drug mentioned in the chapter AND the modules and any and all info that pertains to them. Basically, I took her drug template and put it into excel. For example, the column titles are "Indications", "Contraindications", "Common Side Effects", "Serious Side Effects", etc. It is a TON of work but I have a 90 in the class, so it definitely helps.

Also, remember that she drops your lowest test score and replaces it with the second lowest so that helps! I just realized that the final counts for 25% of our overall grade (yikes!) so I HAVE to make at least a 93 on the final to keep my A! Let the stress begin!

Hang in there, you can do it!!!

Now I have to admit, I dont know what they did. I am partnered and I was placed on the wait list. Science 3.4 and overall 3.55. HESI was a bit low (82) but still met the criteria. So I guess not everyone who is partnered is automatically in.

No letter today either - I'm calling Monday to see what's going on... Am partnered at Baylor - someone mentioned that the go by site when doing the rankings so maybe we were sent out after tuesday...either way - patiently I wait.... So proud and happy for all of you who have got accepted

I did not make it in either. First time applying, and being in my 50's, I do not have a lot of time to just waste. Not sure if I am going to reapply. Sounds like being partnered with a hospital in the Dallas Metroplex area is helpful. Sorry about the news.

I am partnered with Baylor, I have been put on the waiting list. Does anyone know if there are separate waiting list for different hospitals or if there is only one wait list?

@ momsboys - if you dont mind what was your overall GPA and science GPA? I cant believe so many partnered students are getting put on waitinglist as well! Fingers crossed for ya!

@largemillion- I honestly don't know my overall GPA (I have so many transfer credits from various schools, that I am not sure) My science GPA is 3.4. I think it has something with how many students applied. I believe Baylor only had 10 spots last year...I have no idea how many applied who are partnered with Baylor, but im sure it's more than 10.

I received my Acceptance letter today :D Finally!!

@EMT2BLS-i'm partnered too and i'm also on waitlist?? i still have 2 class i'm finishing up..what about u?

question..i'm on the waitlist but in Epic i see BSN Orientation? i'm confused does anyone else on waitlist see BSN ORIENTATION on Epic?

@judyduckett- are you currently enrolled in Nursing 1300, Intro to professional nursing? If so, you are automatically enrolled in BSN orientation with this course.
