TWU Spring 2010

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

Ditto what Supersweet said. God has a timing worked out just for you and you'll be just fine.

BTW, I had heard from someone in the past the normal number of applicants for Dallas was around the 500 - 600 mark every semester, so that sounds close to the numbers I'm seeing on here. Of course please remember that many of these are people who are shooting in the dark with GPAs in the 3.0 - 3.2 range as well. While I was attending a few of my summer classes, I heard several students who were still going to apply even though they knew their GPA was no where near what was needed as a just in case measure. Although I don't know why someone would want to blow $30 for no reason, it's beyond me. So many of those 500-600 aren't "real" contenders in the first place.

I'd be interested to know how many people actually fall within the expected 3.8 - 3.9 and above GPA range. I know that at one point I was told that one semester they actually admitted a person with a 3.65, but their NET score was off the charts. So who knows...

Doe sanyone know when invitations for TWU Houston and UT Houston interviews will be sent out? When I tried calling UT Houston, I realized that their system was a little difficult to understand. If invited to an interview, you will get a letter sometime in October, but if your application is declined, you don't get a letter until November...? You would think they would just send out the interview and decline letters at the same time since you can't get in without an interview. I was going to call and ask TWU Houston when I should be hearing something, but I figured I would ask if anyone here knew. Thanks!

well i know that UT houston has been interviewing for about 3 or 4 weeks now. so i'm thinking you should be expecting a letter sometime soon. if you took the NET sometime in september instead of before the deadline of september 1st, then you should be looking for an interview invitation. if you took your net before the deadline, you might want to call in and see what is going on.

twu doesn't interview. i heard somewhere that TWU will be sending out acceptance letters at the beginning of nov (same with UT houston)

I know UT Houston already sent theirs out and started interviewing around September 20. Theres a thread about UT Houston

I took the NET in December 2008. Does this mean I probably didn't get an interview? I still think their process makes no sense, but I'll call and ask anyways. I'm so tired of getting the runaround when I call places and to be frank, the waiting process that accompanies nursing applications is exhausting. I know I'm preaching to the choir...

i actually like UT Houston's process. they look at the entire student not just GPA and NET score like the majority of other schools do. i interviewed on September 17th which was the first interview date. we were told there by the an administrative coordination that they would send out letters around November 15th. i'm not sure where some people are getting late october or early november for UT Houston, unless they realized that it won't take as long as expected and have been telling applicants at recent interviews the new date

I was told by an advisor that TWU normally got 1000 applicants. Maybe he was combining the numbers for Dallas and Houston, though.

kimmy088: I'm so sorry about your transcripts. That is sad news. Keep your chin up, and it will happen for you.

I couldn't make it to class today. Listen to this: I got up, ate breakfast made it to campus by 8:12, and there was NO WHERE TO PARK. The meters were all full. The only meters available were the ones for 25 cents, you get 30 mins instead of getting 75 mins, and I didn't have enough change. The other garage by childrens was way too far to walk. I'm so sad/mad that I missed class because of parking. So, I went ahead and bought the parking permit online when I got home *sigh. I caved in.

Btw, I just called TWU Denton and asked how many people applied, but the woman who picked up was rude and she said they dont know since they have not gone through all the apps yet. I have never heard her voice before and she was so rude that I just got off the phone quickly.

Goopsy - the parking situation is seriously crappy. I went ahead and bought a sticker 2 weeks ago. I have also been getting there 30 minutes early, just to park. If it makes you feel any better, I didn't make it to class either. I flew in late yesterday from visiting my brother in Seattle, and just couldn't get my butt out of bed in time. :-) Butterfly Journey - did we miss any super important info about the exam?

i just wanted to make sure i didn't miss anything about this...TWU only sends out letters of acceptance/denial right? and it isn't posted online anywhere or sent to your email? the reason i ask is i know i've heard for UT Houston you can look on your utlink account and find out before you receive your letter because they update it sometime around when they send them out so you don't have to wait for the mail to get to you

thanks elizabelle! I emailed the prof and she said that they just finished up chapters 23 and 24 and to study the notes, chapter, and study manual carefully. Also, her "study guide" is posted.

ali523: for the fast track (summer 09) and the fall 2009 semesters, they did sent out emails of acceptance, and then 1 to 2 days later they got the letters of acceptance/denial. There were no emails of regret though, so if you didn't get one saying you got in, they they knew they were out. There is not a place on the portal account to see if you got in or not, but I'll be looking for a clue come end of this month!
