TWU Spring 2010

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

Good afternoon all,

I thought I read in our thread that they are using the Critical thinking score?

Btwn, The day before application deadline I went by the nursing school office to confirm that my Hesi score on record. I had the conversation with ****** that I heard the apllicants were down for this term. She said that they were at 548, that day.

I think I will drop by the office tomorrow just to be sure there are no surprises for me and so that I can calm my nerves. As if we all werent already trying not to think about the answer that awaits.

Great job Goopsy, on your scores!! :yeah:

Best wishes to all of us as we wait.......Have a great week!

SuperSweet,

Yes they are supposedly using the Critical Thinking section, but it was hinted several times by the staff at TWU Denton and by the director at Dallas that the critical thinking was just a formality and it was said several times that even if it was not used by TWU, that applicants still needed to have that section.

548? Hmmm...a lot of people, but less than the 1100 that was rumored to have applied for fall 2009. I'm just praying we are all part of that top 100!

I'm not the type to ask people directly what their scores are, so I really only shared my scores because I thought if I did, that others would open up about theirs and we could kind of see where we stand-like the past threads have done, but it seems people are pretty tight-lipped lol.

Thanks for the good luck wishes and good luck to you too. Have a wonderful week. Btw, we have another patho exam a week from tomorrow. yuck.

Goopsy,

My score was 82 Hesi, 4.1 grades and 830 Critical thinking. I am concerned of my Hesi score as I really was shooting for 85, and that is what I understand they are looking for. I almost considered not applying and retaking the Hesi. When I got wind that the testing was messed up and applicants were down I decided to apply anyway. The rest is in the hands of God and the staff at TWU! Thanks for sharing and opening up about the grades, b/c now I am! :D

gentle terms of service reminder

i am glad so many are posting here. while it is important to network, please remember there are rules of this site called the terms of service (tos). please refer to the following portion of the tos which addresses the use of names.

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

names have been edited from several posts. thanks for understanding.

SuperSweet,

I am glad you applied! Your GPA is awesome, and the HESI is right there! They only asked for 75, but I never heard anything about them wanting an 85. Really, I'm glad you applied because I think you have awesome stats.

do you know if the 548 was the total for the houston and dallas campuses? my gpa is a 3.75, which sadly is considered low...i am a student at a&m so no .4 bump for me. however, my hesi score was a 95, so i'm hoping that will help me out at least a little bit

thank you goopsy, that's very nice! but you never know, i will definitely be keeping my fingers crossed

Hey ladies, I don't mind sharing my scores. I got an 89.4 on the Hesi, my GPA is 4.10 and the critical thinking was 850. I also took the NET test about a year ago and I made an 85 on the Reading Comprehension portion (the only portion they considered), if that gives you an idea of what their looking for in the HESI. You ladies have me scared, I'm calling tomorrow to find out if they have the correct score for me.

does anyone know if gpas above a 4.0 are considered a 4.0 or do they keep them what they are?

Yeah,I don't think so.The Critical Thinking section doesn't count towards your score of what I heard.Even on the page of your composite score it doesn't factor into your overall score.Yeah I did alright on my Hesi.My composite score was an 88,and I have an 4.0 overall GPA without the .4 bump since I'm a transfer applicant.I'm so nervous about getting in I wish we would find out something already!I get antsy talking about it lol

548?I hope this is the fast track combined with the traditional BSN at both Dallas and the Houston campus!Even though it's supposedly not a lot of applicants compared to many other nursing programs,it seem like so many people when they only accept 70 or 80 people a semester! lol
