I don't typically rant on here . . . and I don't know why my patience today is low . . . BUT----
1) Take kid off bus early for vomiting, chills and temp 99.8. Ten minutes later, temp 101.5, call parent who says "can't you just give him some medicine and let him rest? Parent arrives 75 minutes later . . . temp now 102.5 . . . kid wouldn't take Tylenol . . .
2) Staff member who says "can you listen to my heart?" Me: "Why?" Her: "It doesn't feel right. I can't feel it." putting her hand on her chest. No pain, no SOB, no history, denies palpitations . . . . I listen and get normal, regular AR/Radial Rate. Me: "if IT (whatever that is) doesn't go away, see your doctor. I don't see any emergent problem."
Sigh . . . . Happy Wednesday fellow wonder nurses!

I am in no way qualified to diagnose but it sounds like you have might-need-spring-break-itis.
I also took a random BP in an adult with three doctors and enough medical problems for 10 people. Because "it was low" on Friday at the doctor.
Hang in there! We have 2 days left until spring break! How many do you have?

Had a teacher ask if she could come by later for me to look in her ear. She has been on antibiotics for an ear infection and was supposed to be doing an ear drop but "ugh, I just didn't want to", and the doctor told her if it isn't any better when she comes back she will need to go to the ENT and she just "don't have time for that".
Yeah, because I have plenty of time to look at your ear. Eyeroll.

Well. I can't feel my cerebellum, but I know it's there. Teachers need to chill.

My mini rant for the day is I am tired of kids telling lies. You are in MS, you know right from wrong!!! I have caught 3 in lies today alone. One even tried to throw a teacher under the bus...........

How about nurses telling lies?
Sent a kiddo out this morning after looking at her cut. I looked her in the eye and told her that the doctors have been gluing a lot of cuts recently. If it isn't stitched when she checks in tomorrow, I will be totally surprised, but she kind of freaked at the thought of stitches.

I don't like change.

Neither do we. No Farawyn is a change. Do you see what you've done? You've become the very thing you despise. For shame.

My mini rant - I have a student that will fake faint to get attention. She pulled this a few times while I was out on maternity leave. Well, she pulled it on me today. I never seen someone gracefully fall to the floor while fainting and her arms were nicely placed under the side of her face. I kept telling her to open her eyes but she wouldn't. After 2 minutes I told her I am calling 911, her eyes opened immediately. It's a medical miracle!
