I just want to give all of you some encouragement...I just found out today that I finally passed the nclex-rn. I had all 265 questions!!! If I can do it...anyone can. I took this test 5 times!!! The first time I failed I thought...it's ok...I'll do it next time. Well then I failed for the second time...I shed a few tears...by the third and fourth time failing...I wanted to run away. Telling everyone at work each time I took it that I failed again, it was horrible! However, everyone was so supportive which made it much easier on me. Please never give up!!!! The way I look at it is...I took 4 very expensive practice tests...and it all worked out in the end!!!! So hang in there for all the people struggling to pass this test!!!

First of all a big congrats!
The question I have having failed once myself is what changed the outcome. Did something eventually click while preparing or testing or was it just the luck of the draw?
When I finished my test I couldn't put my finger on anything that would help should I have to take it again. Unfortunately I am in that very situation.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Again a big congrats.

Congratulations!!! Four expensive practice tests is a good way to look at it. You are an inspiration to others in this situation. Now for that job!:balloons::balloons::balloons:

congratulations to you!!!!! i am about to sit for this test for the 5th time. this is exactly what i wanted to hear. but, i like myton, would like to know what you did, i have done kaplan online and in class, kaplan book, mosby, nsna, exam cram, nursing bullets, old notes from school, lippincotts, and finished tip #1 for suzanne, only to be told she can't help me because of my test date. what would you suggest? i am just going to go through and do questions and the cd, and focus on content because i have been out of school for 2 years. i can't wait to see my name with an RN behind it. congrats to you for never giving up and being such an inspiration. thanks for that!

congrats new r.n
Thanks for all the kind words!!!! I took Kaplan right after school was over. The way the class was designed, it didn't help me at all. We all sat in a classroom while the teacher put different questions on the overhead screen. By the time I was finished reading the question someone was all ready yelling out the answer. So I got my money back when I didn't pass the first time. The second time around I went to the book store and got a pharm book and Saunders. I read through all the chapters and did a ton of questions. But I failed again. At that point I decieded to just do questions and skim over different content. I probably did 6,ooo questions. But again...I failed. It wasn't until after failing the 4th time where it hit me...make note cards. I don't know about you guys but note cards is how most people study for tests. So I took the info from Saunders...and put them on note cards. The information I was confident in didn't go on the cards...b/c I already knew that content...and remained focused on the content that didn't come easy to me. Also, the difference this 5th time around is after I found out I failed the 4th time...I didn't take a break like I did after all the other tests. I always gave myself 2-3 weeks off...but by the time I would start studying...I felt like I forgot everything. So every day I studied for about and hour or two...using the note cards. So when the testing day came around again...I was ready. And when I was taking that test...I could picture those note cards that I made. All those books I was reading were just blending together and not sticking to my brain. Those note cards made a world of difference and they were easy to study from. I took a few stacks to work...which was nice I didn't have to carry those heavy books around. The cards took about a week to make and making them was studying as well. So that's what I did different to pass that test. I hope this all made sense and GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
