3: I was apprehensive about starting school again in my late 20's. My MIL told me one day, "in a few years you'll be the same age with a nursing degree or without one." That statement has reall motivated me.

well actually... not in any state at all. i'm canadian, and so i live in a province. i live in the wonderful province of ontario!

4 what is the one piece of advice you are holding onto right now?

work hard and organizational and time management skills are key... success doesn't just happen over night. it happens with time, dedication and with the right mind-set and passion.

5. who is your greatest motivation to complete nursing school?

i would have to say my family (mainly my mother - who raised me as a single parent). also, i couldn't imagine succeeding without the support of my spouse. :heartbeat

4 what is the one piece of advice you are holding onto right now?

it's not really advice, more of a reassurance: school has never been hard for me but the closer i get to starting clinicals, the more worried i get that it will be too difficult for me. when i express this to hubby (who is also a nurse) he rolls his eyes and says, "woman, you are smart, you'll do well", and i try to take his word for it, after all, he's been there, done that.

5. who is your greatest motivation to complete nursing school?

my 3 kids, my hubby, my mom (also a nurse) and my mil who is battling pancreatic ca (who also happens to be a nurse). my hubby and mil are both very respected in their field and i hope to some day be as successful and hard working as they are.

"do or do not. there is no try."--yoda (applicable whether you're a star wars nerd or not!)

"be excited! if i could go back and do it all over i'd still choose nursing."--a mentor when she heard i'd received my acceptance letter

5. who is your greatest motivation to complete nursing school?

myself, my husband, and the children we will have some day

1. 8/24...I'm excited and nervous at the same time lol.

3.LPN...I applied to the LPN program because I didn't think I'd be accepted into the RN program. I talked to the program director and she said I could continue into the RN portion, since I have all of my pre-reqs completed. I should've applied anyway, instead of second guessing myself back then.

4. No procrastinating!! I was the Queen of Procrastination when I attended the university back at home and boy did my grades reflect that. I grew up, stepped my game up, and now, I'm happy to be apart of the program

5. Myself and my grandmother...I know she'd be proud of me. I remember spending the night in the hospital with her, when we found out she had cancer. I was only in elementary school, but for some reason I felt as if I could take better care of her than the nurses and doctors

As much as I would like to say that I am doing this for my family (and I am), I am most definitely doing this for me! I am worth it!
