To those starting nursing programs this fall, let's share who we are with one another! Also, I wanted help make an official marker of the beginning of this journey so we can look back on it for reference!

4 what is the one piece of advice you are holding onto right now?
manage my time effectively and walk into class and clinicals with no presumptions because nursing school is unlike anything i've ever experienced.
5. who is your greatest motivation to complete nursing school?
my kids maybe, i don't know, i'm kinda doing this for myself, i've wanted to do it for so long and now its finally happening. i definitely want to provide a better life for them (not that they don't have a good life), but i guess at least 50% better than what i had when i was a kid. also i know i only have one shot to do this here. my husband is military and we are only here for a limited time, and the school is 3 years, his station time is 3-4 years, we just got here in january so there is no rolling out, loa, or failing.
some of my inspiration comes from my mil, as she has no insurance and does not qualify for social programs, i would like to set up more community clinics and such. more inspiration is the awesome hospice nurses my grandma had when she passed in april. i can only hope to be half the nurse that they were. truly remarkable.

manage your time wisely and do some nclex questions each day to help you get prepared and thinking like a nurse.

what is the one piece of advice you are holding onto right now?
study, study, study. stay motivated and keep your head up. walk into class with an open mind and ready to learn. at the end of the day care for the patients you are helping, remember why you wanted to do this in the first place, and always do your best!!
who is your greatest motivation to complete nursing school?
its always been my dream, for as long as i can remember when my mom was in the hospital for cancer/heart/pneumonia and many other things i always watched the nurses. initially i wanted to be a doctor but decided nursing was what was meant for me. i want to help people and i want to make a difference. nursing and caring are things i have always enjoyed doing. i am also doing it for my mom - getting to this point has been a long 6 years and she has supported me and helped me the entire time. although i'm doing it for me i'm doing it for her too, and she is the reason i am going into this field in the first place.
also i know this is god's calling for me. i didn't think i was going to get accepted, i knew if i did get accepted it wasn't meerly chance but meant to happen because when i applied i wasn't even sure if i wanted to be a nurse or a doctor. thousands of nursing have done this before me, and hundreds would love to have my spot in the nursing program so i am going in and i'm going do my best!

4. Advice? I've seen SO much great advice so far. Study hard, but remember to make time for yourself and family....the balancing act looks like it might be my biggest obstacle.

5. WHO IS YOUR GREATEST MOTIVATION TO COMPLETE NURSING SCHOOL? My family. I have been a SAHM for 13 years and while I enjoyed it my DH who has MD is close to being unable to work, soon I will be the bread winner. I choose nursing as I love anything medical and the need in my area is high
