Shoes

Hello everyone. I am wondering about your opinions on shoes. I am entering nursing school and need a white pair of shoes (can also be an all leather athletic shoe too, but must be white). In terms of comfort and aesthetics, what is the best combo your opinion?

Nike, vans worked for me

You have to cater to your school and how strict they are. My school was pretty lenient and could get away with a light gray strip if it was on the shoes. I honestly think aesthetics shouldn't matter and should sacrifice all aesthetics for comfort if possible cuz you will be standing and moving your entire shift and most of it. Aside from that, I recommend K-Swiss and they have shoes that are full white.

They said that Nike Air Force 1's are acceptable. As long as they are all white it doesn't matter.

I wore a pair of new balance ww576wt with new balance arch supports, but I have high arches and like to have plenty of toe room. It depends on your foot shape. What is comfortable with a flat wide foot will not be comfortable for a high arched, narrow foot. Try them on, make sure they are properly fitted, there is no such thing as a great shoe for everyone.

pricey, but after foot surgery the only shoes I can wear are ecco biom. Their a crosstraining shoe and super comfortable. Some are available in white and they will last forever. I bought a pair of grey ones in Jan 2013 and a pair of white ones in March 2015 for nursing school. Now I alternate between the two and they are both just as comfortable as when I first bought them.

I wore some nike shox that we're all where with grey shox.

All white shoes are idiotic.

I know rock pretty much any pair of pearl Izumi or mizuno.

New Balance

Only shoes that have kept my feet, legs and back feeling even semi decent are SAS. Pricey ($200), but last a long time (over 2 years on my current pair) and just help me last a full 12 hour + shift.

I also wear compression socks, at first I did not think they did much, but after a few weeks of wearing them, when I don't my legs are more tired at the end of the shift.

As someone who won't wear clogs or slip-ons, K-Swiss ST329 are the best shoes I've found. Non-slip soles and memory foam insoles make them real comfortable and they are only about $60

I'm in the same boat as you OP...just our shoes must be all black.

Some of the graduating nurses from our same program who welcomed us new nursing students in gave us some insight about how lenient the instructors / staff are. Definitely looking into these ECCO shoes, pricey but anything is better than these clunky oxford "police" looking shoes. I literally squeak all the way down the college halls walking to class in uniform. Annoying :(
