  1. "I told the charge and security that the Posey wasn't enough, oh well"
  2. "In my defense you were the one who wanted the suppository."
  3. Yep - covered this in lecture a few weeks ago and people were confused as to why. Alcohol can reduce stress, increase mood and stimulate appetite. Something I think most of us know
  4. Not really called to it. I always enjoyed science and wanted to take part of something that not everyone in America could say they have done in a line of work. I felt drawn to the career for stability, job growth, advancement, recognition and something I could leave on my legacy that was respectable. The reason I knew I COULD be a nurse is because I have helped take care of both of my grandparents on my mom's side that passed away last year and ever since 2007 I've helped take care and watch after my own father who suffers from CKD & CLL. To boot I spent time at DO's and Hospitals as a kid so I kind of fell in love with the idea of medicine in general. Note, I'm still in nursing school and still feel the same way even after working clinical hours.
  5. Here is the scope of practice for Medical Assitants via the AAMA: Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes : Online Sunshine (f) Administering medication as directed by the physician. The statement is vague, I'd assume it would depend per physician but anesthetics are different than giving a house med or a flu shot. The same statue is written into the RN practice act. If you really need to know for legitimate reasons you can always call or write the board of nursing an e-mail asking for clarification. Our instructor told us a story about how he had to write the BON at the state he was in at the time to ask about EJV (external juggular vein cannulation). He knew paramedics could start them but he was unsure if nurses could when he was instructed to start one. :)
  6. I'm not the best math, my brother on the other hand was in college for mathematics. I handed him my dosage calculations worksheet that we received as a preview of the math/dosage calcs we were going to need to know, he answered 25 questions within about 3 minutes. While that amazed me and pissed me off in the same breath, once I watched him figure them out, read the formulas and figured out what the question was asking for it simplified it. The best way to get better at math is to do practice questions each day, I use Khan Academy. They have everything from learning how to count numbers all the way through vector math.
  7. Absolutely not. My LPN program curves around the $4k mark out of pocket, with books. The ADN-RN bridge track is probably around the 5-7k mark. That's not even anywhere near $28,000 for a Surgery Tech.
  8. I highly suggest using YouTube for these, my class is on this as well. I have a very solid understanding of the cell, organelles and functions because of YouTube. This video helps immensely! I just watched it over & over until it was burned into my skull.
  9. Sorry I never responded to this, never saw the update. How are you liking class so far?! And thanks for introducing yourself the other night :) I was trying to figure out who you were but I'm too reserved of a person to blatantly ask.

I'm in the same boat as you OP...just our shoes must be all black. Some of the graduating nurses from our same program who welcomed us new nursing students in gave us some insight about how lenient the instructors / staff are. Definitely looking into these ECCO shoes, pricey but anything is better than these clunky oxford "police" looking shoes. I literally squeak all the way down the college halls walking to class in uniform. Annoying
  11. First week of class is officially in the books :) I have to ask which part of the program are you in SLE118? I'm the guy that sits / sat by the window with the beard.
  12. Starting at Lake Tech today for the Part Time PN program :)
