Did you initially think you weren't going to like nursing
That's good to hear! I posted this thread mostly because I'm scared I won't like nursing, mostly because I am an introvert. So I'm glad that there are introverts surviving in nursing. :)

Good luck. Just curious, and if you don't mind me asking, what made you want to pursue nursing in the first place? Did you have any previous experience in healthcare?

I'm sorry to hear that. Do you plan on looking for a new job outside of the hospital setting?

thanks for your reply! I'm so glad you finally feel comfortable. I'm amazed that you went through 13 years of struggling! If you don't mind me asking, why didn't you ever quit nursing since you were struggling for that long? And why were you struggling with?

Did you choose nursing because it was your "calling"?
Thank you so much for taking the time to write all that!! It kind of scared me haha! But the reasons why I want to go into nursing are very similar to yours. I still find nursing an interesting and challenging profession, even though I do not over glamorize it.

I'm trying to research nursing as much as I can because I do not want to end up hating my career choice! So far, I find the career very challenging, interesting, and rewarding. Plus the good pay, steady job, and all the specializations I could choose from.. I am leaning towards pursuing nursing the most.

Did you choose nursing because it was your "calling"?
Hello :) I'm a first year in college interested in pursuing nursing. Did you feel "called" to be a nurse? Did your expectations of nursing fit reality? I read that people who choose nursing because of their desire to help others, rather than the actual enjoyment of the job, were more likely to burn out quicker. Any thoughts on this? I'm trying not to see nursing as a profession that is always "rainbows and butterflies" and to not let that cloud my expectations of nursing.

How has nursing changed you?
Hello :) What were you like before starting nursing/nursing school? What kind of personality did you have? I'm a college freshman who's very interested in nursing. But there's a lot about the career that worries me. The high stress, physical and emotional demands, having to always be "on top of things" throughout 12 hour shifts, dealing with bad patients, etc... But it's such an amazing career and I'm really interested in it. The science of it is what really interests me. And of course, making a difference in people's lives. I have always been a shy and quiet person, and I'm interested to see how nursing will bring me out of my shell! On a side note, I've considered other careers in the medical field like laboratory work, but I can only see myself becoming bored. Plus, all the different specializations of nursing is what I prefer in a career.
