5 8s or 4 10s???

Right now I work Mon-Friday 7-330 . I came from 3 12s so 5 days a week leave me drained. I have the option of 4 10s ..... 7-530pm. I would get home by 6pm instead if 4pm. My husband currently works from home but may be moving back to a 9-5.We have to pick out son up from day care by 6pm. Just don't know what to do.

What schedule would you like if you were in my shoes?

4 10's all the way. 5 8s is BRUTAL.

I'm a weirdo. I'm the weekend supervisor (a 12 hour shift) at a hospital that does 8's. So I work 12 hour supervision Saturday and Sunday, then work the floor on my unit on 1st shift (8 hours) Wednesday and Thursday. So I get the 3 days a week off... It's weird and kind of annoying sometimes to have my "weekends" be Monday and Tuesday, but it's also really easy to get in and out of the grocery store at 2 pm on a random Tuesday...

4 10's seems more ideal to me. If you think about it, 2 hours is not that much of a difference from a 8 hr shift. I personally would rather have 3 days off. As well, 7-5:30 is a really good time/ schedule to have. Since you just came from 12 hrs, you know that 10 hours will seem less to you.

I do 4 8's, then 2 days off. Also, you mention your husband maybe going to 9-5. Yeah, there was a song and movie with that name, and people talk about 9-to-5 jobs, but I've never known *anyone* who works or worked 9-5. When I was a programmer I worked 8-5, or 7-4, 7:30-4:30, 8:30-5:30, but never 9-5.

Are you sure it would really be 10 hrs? I know a 12 hour shift is almost never only 12 hours...

I don't work at the bedside. No patient care or contact so yes, it will be 10 hours only.

Only catch is I can't take monday or friday off. So I chose Thursdays. My husband will have mondays and fridays off. So he will only have to "rush" to pick up little one 2 days a week.

Yes, I will. I'm hoping it will be the best of both worlds !

I am an early riser and will be good with the 4 10s since it gives me time for family after work....

Exactly ! I'll get home by 6pm, still time for family !
