I'm back for my 16th year as a school nurse! Spent the summer planning and preparing all the 504 agreements that our district now mandates. My desks are covered in paperwork, phone ringing off the hook, kids coming in droves already but loving it all! Couldn't see myself doing anything else. Have a great school year allnurses friends :)

Two 911 calls already. Yikes😮

2 911 calls?? for what??

BP 200/100 with chest pain/pressure - adult, seizure activity - child

:snurse:

I don't recall seeing your request to withdraw from school nursing come across the committee's desk for approval...

Can I be on the committee???? Please? Pretty Please? With sugar on top???

I'm back. !st day of staff development today. Kids start next Wednesday

Gah! What was the outcome??

I've been back since Aug 9. Most of our building been without a/c in 90-100 degrees Temps outside with high humidity. We've had a couple kids suffer from heat exhaustion (surprised only 2!). Have had tons of fevers, vomiting, colds, and pink eye going around. It's like flu season it's so much. Plus already had a broken arm and someone needing stitches. It's not been a fun year so far.

Well, I completed my orientation and first week with kiddos. I must say I'm very glad it's a 3 day weekend!!! Got some diabetic students that are keeping me on my toes!

But I gotta say this beats 12 hours on my feet all night trying to keep my head above water at the hospital. 8 hours of working is awesome! And I feel so different getting up with the sun and going to bed when it's dark, I feel like a whole new person. So greatful I got this job.

The kids are fun, too... when they're not faking sick (come on, first week of school and you're already wanting to go home! Gimme a break.)

Ok fine. I'm here. Just went back today, kiddos start tomorrow. I hate the first few weeks of school. ALL THE PAPERWORK! I had parents calling today with immuniuzation questions. Seriously people, why not call your pediatrician and discuss it with them over the summer. It's all due to me TOMORROW. I'm a little worked up. Need you all to settle me down. Lol. Looking forward to a new year with my favorite co-workers.

and it's pink, no votes, it's PINK.

Survived day one with the kids here. Sure kept the FAX machine busy :) One down, one hundred seventy nine to go...
