is there any RN PROGRAM that I can APPLY to now and be accepted for JANUARY????

Published

I just got my LPN license in November and wanted to move on to do my RN ASAP meaning in January.

I hadn't applied to any schools but does anyone know of any programs within NY (Brooklyn, Long Island, Queens, Manhattan) that I can apply to now and be accepted.

It doesn't matter if it is private or whether they have a bridge program I would like lots of feedback nurses. Right now I am on a roll and don't really want to stop.:yeah::yeah:

i got in just this week for West Coast University- Ontario California. It will begin Feb 2 2009. They were still open for enrollment but were filling up quickly. There is a big sticker shock when you get the price of this education. BSN- Nursing in 3 years- no haggle, no waitlist, no schedule problems all for $116K. very expensive but if they really can churn you out to be a RN. :twocents:

Specializes in Family Nurse Practitioner.
$116k???!!

OMG my LPN to ADN bridge program was only $2,500 and even with an uber expensive private university that I picked for my ADN to BSN it will be an additional $10,000 so I'm thinking with a couple of gen-eds that I can do at CC I'm going to be done at around $15,000...hmmmm what to do with the extra 100 grand I've saved myself?

To the OP,

I'd start checking into community colleges in your area first. Although its a great idea to do it as quickly as possible I doubt you will find a program where you will have all their pre-reqs done that fast but good luck.

Whoooooahmygod! $116K??? My education will have cost less than that, including my BA that I took 7 years to get (with 2.5 years at a private school) and the private school accelerated nursing tuition. Heck, add my husband's paramedic school and our total education bill is still less then that bridge program.

To the OP: I'd try some of the online programs. I think you'd be more likely to find flexible start dates with them and not run in to class size limits in the same way. Maybe Excelsior?

 $116k? that is ridiculous imo, but if you can afford it and really want your RN without having to wait at least a year or two, then go for it. My BSN education is only going to cost me ~$70k.

wow my BSN is less than 20K

I'm working on my second bachelor's and my husband has a BA and a masters and together our education didn't cost that much. I agree with the poster that suggested a community college. Go get a job with your current license and let them pay to put you through RN school.

Some people have worked years-between pre-reqs and waiting-to get into nursing school. With so many qualified students trying to get into NS, if there is a school that offers a no frills, quick entry, I'd really check out the school. It would be nice to think that the situation is unique in that not many applicants are trying for NS in that area, but I think more likely there's a reason students aren't flocking to fill seats. As for that kind of tuition, I'd want some kind of assurance of an amazing education that almost guarantees entrance into a Masters' program that could possibly justify the kind of tuition just noted here.

Well West Coast University is also not regionally accred. So you are paying 116,000 for a degree that will not transfer. I guess this is only an issue if you want to further your nursing education.

Specializes in Ante-Intra-Postpartum, Post Gyne.

Thats pretty much impossible. First of all, it is way too late to be applying now. Applications are generally accepted a semester before the program begins. Also, I am sure there pre-reqs you will have to take for an RN program even though you have your LVN/LPN; there are a lot more pre-reqs for the RN than the LVN/LPN, at least in California.
