RN bashing

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I don't know about the rest of you RNs, but I'm sick of seeing all the posts where we are being bashed by those who aren't one. When I joined here, I actually thought it was a place for nurses to communicate with other nurses by sharing things about their work, asking each other's opinions on things, etc.

What I keep seeing more and more of is a CNA or LPN complaining about how registered nurses are so bad in how they treat them. True, there are some registered nurses who may have a thing against them. But, most seem to appreciate all the help they receive from them and those who come here are constantly trying to tell them that.

Why can't we all just get along and do our jobs in which we were hired?

There always seems to be alot of accusing each other of being lazy.

This is exactly why nursing will not progress as a profession, no one stands together. How can we grow as a profession if our own ranks delight in bringing each other down?

Thanks for your post. I want to be a nurse, and I have one more pre-req before I apply. When I came on this board it seemed so many people were unhappy with their profession and it worried me a little. It is good to see your post.

Specializes in critical care; community health; psych.

Are not we all in the nursing profession with a common objective? My point in any bashing I may have done is that we have to make the best out of what we have to deal with and it's counterproductive to stereotype. We're all under a great deal of stress. Let's be good to one another and be mindful that our goal is one and the same without tearing each other up in the process.

:o This is so true! We are too busy criticizing and condemning each other. LPN vs. RN. Night shift vs. Day shift etc. etc. etc. What a waste of time!

Specializes in Renal, Haemo and Peritoneal.

I have been on both ends. I was an enrolled nurse (like LPN I think) and have been an RN now for some time. I copped crap as an EN and cop it now as an RN. You encounter pricks wherever you go!

I like to think as a team and value my nursing colleagues whether they have the same qualifications as me or not.

Come to think of it I treat all of my workmates with respect, cleaners and domestics too.

We all need to stop whinging about each other and start discussing issues which really matter!

Couldn't have said it any better except to add:

I think most of what goes on here is venting. I don't think anyone means to bash anyone else. I never really see this done by the regulars.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

This board is a place to learn, grow and yes, even vent when you need to. However, the board isn't a place for name-calling or bashing of individuals. Spirited discussions are okay though as long as everyone remains respectful.

Where did you see these posts. I missed them! Not saying they aren't there, I tend to look for threads that allow me the opportunity to encourage acceptance of the LPN as a major league player by all the staff. This is not RN bashing. This is system bashing. Hope you understand the difference!

Im not a RN but im gonna be one i like bashing some RN's like the lazy stuckup ones but i know a few real quality RN's and they have my respect i wouldnt dare bash them their almost like Aunts to me. I understand where your coming from but RN's bash each other as well its not just MD's,CNA's who bash them.
