Really, I don't know where they get their info from..

So my sister today was telling me that some girls in her Chem class were talking about transferring to a university to complete their BSN instead of their ADN. Their reason was because BSN nurses make 10-15 dollars more than ADN nurses. Complete and utter b.s. I have never known BSN nurses who just graduated from school to make more than an ADN grad. They have always made the same from what I know. If there was a difference in pay, it wasn't that much. I have worked with a nurse who graduated from Perdue and we hired in at the same time and made the same amount of money. Honestly, where do these people get their info from?

At my last place of work BSNs earned 50 cents additional an hour. The BSNs will be laid off later than the seasoned ADNs perhaps??

Let them go and get their debts along with the BSN, meanwhile after you get your ADN you'll earn your degree while not having to accrue debt!

Where I work, BSN gets you a whopping $0.40 more an hour. That's an entire $800 more a year. Not worth the added debt if you ask me... unless you want to go into management, teaching, etc.

I have seen differences listed as .50 or .75, when there was a difference at all. They should publicize the name of this hospital!

I haven't heard anything about the extra pay in my 13 years as and RN, but I do know that in my area many institutions are starting to only accept new BSN grads - no ADNs, but these are Magnet facilities.

Yea as most of the above have stated the difference is nothing...I got i think got like a whole .85 cents an hour extra.

I have made anywhere from 25c to $1 more per hour. The only real difference is that when a job states "BSN preferred" or "BSN required" I may have had a better chance at that job.

At my facility they may get $1/hr, but they are able to move up higher. We have 4 levels and you can't get to 3 or 4 without a BSN. But we are also a magnet hospital. Better to work and let your facility pay for the BSN.

Maybe they got their info from the college who is trying to recruit them for the BSN program? ;)

no doubt we would all be getting bsn's, if these differentials were the case.

In oklahoma pretty much all RNs (the newgrads at least) gets paid the same!!

It ranges from 0 to $1 an hour. I am all for furthering your education but these students are in for a rude awakening.

What really kills me are people who think nurses bring home a fat paycheck..when I tell my friends that I'm not making an exceptional money they dont believe me and say that once they are done with RN school they will be making like 4000 per month ok...yes maybe you will while doing overtime, working nights and dont forget about taxes!!!
