How long did it take you to get your Associates in Nursing? I was just wondering because I know it's gonna take me a little bit longer than 2 years. I have to balance some type of employment with school, So I won't be able to take a full course load every semester. *sigh*:o

That would be a good idea cause you have to get the best grades you can to get accepted into the program. For me it will take 2 years. i started in January of this year and i will finish in may of 2008 so just a little over 2 years. It can take some people as much as 3+ years. But take as much time as you need, try not worry so much about how long it will take, just absorb all the knowledge you can and have a good experience.

I took over a full load per sememster. It took me exactly three years. Two semesters for prereqs, then the nsg program was two years.

Most of the people in my program that went part time took 4-5 years.

Good luck and hang in there! :)

Hey! Thanks so much for the reply. Yeah, I plan on studying like a mad woman! LOL! And I DO want to make mostly A's and B's so I think my pace is gonna work out fine for me. BTW, tookewlandy, are you working through school? Fulltime or partime?

Hey, Thanks for the prompt reply. I think it will take me about 3 yrs too!

Nursing school itself is two years. The pre-reqs were one year for me but I already had some of them from several years earlier. Some of my classmates who started from scratch, it took them 3-4 years total.

I'll be done, (if everything woeks out alright) in just under 3 years.

It took me 3 semesters for my pre-reqs going full time. I am now getting ready to enter my 4th and final semester of our ADN program. So mine in total comes to just under 4 years. I had my son 3 months before I started all this and I have worked part-time the entire time. It is hard but I have made it this far and I am almost done with the first step in my long term plan. We don't have a choice of when we take our nursing classes once in the program and we have to have certain pre-req classes finished before we can move up in the nursing program for example in order to move on to 3rd semester we had to have our microbiology finished. My suggestion is to finish as many pre-reqs as possible before entering the nursing program that way it doesn't all seem so overwhelming. Good Luck.

one year of pre-reqs= 4.0

then one year of waiting list

what did i do with all that time? toooo much binge drinking.......:biere:

then it was 2 years nursing program, with nooo :nono: screwing around, end gpa? 3.46 = no honors for me :crying2:

I chose the excelsior route and it took me apporx. 2 1/2 years. But you have to be an LPN first to get into the program. It was the only way I could do it and work. It allowed me to work a full time job plus a part time job and every other time I was taking a breath I was studying but it worked for me!

Well when i first started in January, i was working full time. I was taking Psychology, Sociology and English Comp 1. They were very easy(but fun) and i did not have to study that much to get A's. I figured if i could do that with these classes then maybe i could work taking A&P 1 and 2 over the summer. HUH i was way wrong. You gotta study study study for these classes, so i had to quit my job ( i was working with people with Mental retardation). I'm surt i could have worked maybe 1-2 days a week but id decided to just devote all my time to studying and getting in the habit developing my study habits, to prepare myself for fall nursing classes. I'm not going to work until I'm finished with school. Some people do work full time though and do very well during school, some people don't.

But yes i think your pace will give you the chance to work as much as you want and study and get good grades. good luck

Andy
