  1. Hopefully it will be a milder version * fingers crossed*, but it's definitely too early to tell.
  2. I guess I don't visit the site often enough. I really didn't expect an antivax OP on here though. (So fed up with nonsense antivaccine propaganda on social media, I have a hard time blocking them all.).
  3. *sighs* Seriously now? I didn't expect I was going to run into antivax propaganda on here too.
  4. You obviously didn't read my post correctly, I never said the OP had the symptoms I had. And unless you're her provider and had assessed her , you can't possibly say that she would have been better with just OTC meds. I've seen pretty bad Covid arms at my place of work.
  5. I disagree with you there. As someone who had side effects after both vaccines, I would do the same thing as OP and call in sick. How can you get through a 12 hour shift with fever, nausea, body aches feeling like you're going to pass out? (Not saying the OP had these symptoms, but that's what I had after both shots, and I'm expecting the same after the booster.) We are human beings too and we need to take care of our own heath.
  6. I am not a manager but have worked as shift supervisor I understand your situation. What I would do Is I would speak to my nurses and ask them for their help until your get someone else on your team. And why should you be stuck late and having do all the admissions? I do my own admissions , and if someone helps, I welcome it, but I don't expect a unit manager or DON to take up that task.
  7. Growing up overseas, and not being in touch with my ex's family makes it null and void of having any panic attacks over relatives just dropping by. The only unexpected visits I get are from maintenance once a year or less. So thankful I have no one bothering the hermit in me ?
  8. Apparently it was ordered 0.5 for all residents who consented to the booster. I panicked because I am one of the nurses who administers the vaccines. They came in vials of 7.5 mL , for 15 doses from a vial. (Moderna) I wish there was one day that my work didn't make me jump out of my skin , either there or at home when I review the whole day in my head. Smh LOL
  9. That is probably what happened. I will ask my DON tomorrow. So far we haven't had any adverse reactions from anyone receiving the vaccine booster , I just panicked when I saw 0.25 ... I will update tomorrow. Ty x
  10. This is what I found yesterday. We just gave boosters to everyone (who consented) in facility with 0.5 ml as per DON order. What do I do next??? Should I report this?
  11. I work in a SNF and I just read the other day that the Moderna booster vaccine is only half of dose (0.25 mL) of regular shot. Our facility gave the same dose (0.5 ml) to all residents, regardless if they were immunocompromised or not. Is that something particular to nursing homes/LTCs? Or they just gave the wrong dose to our residents.
  12. Good idea, I've never through of that. We are not unionized, and of course I could call corporate and tell them what's happening but obviously it would be my last day there.
  13. Yeah I planned on saying that next time I get stuck for a double (which usually turns into 18 hours). I was about to call the corporate, no one was answering, no manager on call , no DON, no Administrator. I stepped out to my car to calm down for a few, then I went back and pushed through the 2 shifts. Signed up with agency as PRN next day . The place I work at is a mess, very toxic coworkers and bosses. I dread looking for another full time job due to my benefits (mainly my health insurance) is through them. I get quoted astronomical monthly fees is I was to sign up on my own. But regardless, I think my time has come to leave that place.
  14. Not all places have supervisors. In many SNFs you're on your own, if you don't have relief, you're there to stay. ?
  15. I think Case Management would not require you to pull doubles. I'm thinking of leaving bedside too, I'm so tired of being stuck at work , especially if I am already exhausted and don't feel good.
  16. Well , I guess Molnupiravir is about to get approved for use soon. I can't say I'm not happy!!
  17. I can't believe I was contemplating not getting vaccinated, less than a year ago.. wow . Smdh
  18. Have you tried nursing homes? They hire RNs as supervisors/unit managers/DONs .. and they're desperately looking to hire more nurses at the moment . Working in a nursing home is not easy by any means, but it is a lot easier to your mental health, than acute. I've done both, and I don't think I'll go back to acute care unless I pick up a travel assignment.
  19. I am so sorry you tested positive hopefully you won't have as many symptoms, since your body has already antibodies in it's system. But to answer your question, It could mutate and most like it will mutate, no matter if someone is vaccinated or not. . I'm not a virologist either, but that's what viruses do. Now, if you REDUCE the modes of transmission, by mandatory mask mandates and social distancing, reduce visitations in healthcare facilities, etc, you will prevent infections, which will reduce considerably the spread of yet another variant.
  20. Newsweek: Florida Breaks Record for COVID Hospitalizations, a Day After Reporting Most New Cases. https://www.newsweek.com/florida-breaks-record-covid-hospitalizations-day-after-reporting-most-new-cases-1615049
  21. Well, now they have started reporting daily . Yesterday the number of new cases was 21,000 in one day , it's not a not weekly toll. Florida sets pandemic record with 21,000 new COVID cases in a day https://mol.im/a/9847919 via http://dailym.ai/android
  22. My gut feeling is this virus will mutate no matter if the host is vaccinated or not. Of course ideally , I wish everyone was vaccinated, but it won't stop the mutations and the need for new vaccines in the future. What really bothers me Is the fact that no one is wearing masks and social distances anymore. With variants emerging and spreading like this, we really should mask up and try and prevent transmissions, instead of putting fun money over lives.
  23. And our governor does nothing about it. He even banned municipalities from enacting their own mandatory masks rules. I am truly terrified, even thought about leaving my job and start some travel assignments, just to get out of here. Almost no one is wearing masks in public establishments. Restaurants and attractions are at full capacity. We had 21,000 new cases of Covid 19 yesterday alone. ? I am not looking forward to working on a Covid unit again. I know it's about to happen, but inside of me, I don't think I have the strength to go through it again. I am at a loss..
  24. Well, humanity should look in the mirror and stop abusing the earth and animals the way we currently are. Also , we should stop reproducing like rabbits. I'm sorry , but we are overpopulated. We understand cats and dogs shouldn't reproduce so much ,so we spay and neuter them. In the meantime we go and have 16 babies. For which we can't care for! Yes , nature is trying to tell us something. Humble down and be greatful for what you have . And stop destroying everything.
  25. At my facility we have the rapid 15 mins swab test available. I had to go see my doctor so I had one of my colleagues test me that very day. I also brought all the most recent.tests, we get tested twice a week. No symptoms, test (-). I was good to go. It's none of their business if you treat covid patients. As others here have said , you wear PPE and per CDC you haven't been *exposed" to Covid. This is infuriating that fellow healthcare providers /staff give us a a hard time , and maybe even preventing us to get the care we need. We are people too.
