I've raised these kind of concerns before and changed my name in the EMR from First Middle Last to First Initial. Last name. Granted, I worked in a prison at the time. The licensing board in my state also posts our address online which can be found by anyone who looks up our license. I use a PO Box because of this. Buy yes, the patients do have a right to know who is treating them. I do feel like the pictures taken it too far though.

Why can't we talk about it? 1) Every two years when I renew my license, I have to attest that I don't have a physical or mental disorder that could impair my performance. 2) Stigma remains In my first year of nursing, I went through several different medications, one particularly stood out because it was the first time I felt like I couldn't drive to work after taking the medicine for the first time 12 hours earlier. I called my boss and explained what happened, and she told me I needed to just get over it and get to work because she didn't have anyone else to cover the evening shift. Even though I knew better, I got behind the wheel of my car and drove to work because I was scared to lose my job. After that day I kept my lip buttoned about my mental health at work. Eventually, I found a position that worked better for me and an environment more conducive to my mental health.

At my old job, I had 12 sets of navy scrubs (it was a requirement to deployable for disaster relief). I washed my scrubs at the end of the week and rotated them out regularly. No issues. Now I teach 2 days/week and bought one set of white scrubs. When I took the position, I wasn't sure if I would teach more than one semester so I didn't want to buy multiple sets. I wash those after each shift, and they're pretty worn now that the semester is over. Laundering less was never a question, however, I will be purchasing more white scrubs.

I'm currently in the South University Online FNP program. It's all self study so reading reading reading non stop. You will only get out of it what you put in honestly. I looked at Simmons and was all set to start there, and a friend talked me into going to South with her (then she ended up not going). I'd be wary of a program that isn't accredited. Could you start somewhere​ else and then transfer after they become accredited?

Is it your nurse manager that is expecting you to function as an MSA, or other staff? I'm an RN in a CBOC and I continually have to remind folks that I cannot schedule. I usually say something like "you know RNs can't do that, but I'll happily forward your request to (insert name of MSA here). In the future, will you please send sheduling requests to her?” Seriously, talk to your nurse manager about what his/her expectations are and let them deal with the clinic coordinator. Good luck!

How is your program going now? I'm taking health policy right now and it's not really my cup of tea. I really wish we had more preparation for clinicals rather than roles/theory/health policy/research. I don't feel like AP Nursing I was enough.

We are kinder to our pets than we are our patients. Dying with dignity should be a choice afforded to everyone. This is the kind of nursing I would like to do, unfortunately, it is still illegal in my state.

I purchased/rented my books. I'm not a great eBook reader so I figured I'd was the best option for me. Your academic counselor can give you the ISBN numbers of the texts you will need ahead of time. You just have to ask. You can also opt out of eBooks which will save you a little money. Theory is fine. It all seems like common sense stuff that is completely deconstructed. Easy A though as long as you complete your work according to the rubric. There is a group project in Theory, or at least there is if you have Dr. Allen. Stay on top of that one. It's challenging having group members spread across the country.

Welcome! I've already started the program and have completed Roles and am at the end of my Theory course. Roles is a lot of reading, researching and teaching yourself. It helped to read the discussion and essay questions a few days ahead of time and think about them before tackling the assignment. I found that the questions/assignments were so much simpler than I was making them out to be. Best of luck in the program. I think If you put the effort in you will do fine.
