  1. 7/70 Scheduling-Anyone have experience?

We work 7 12 hour night shifts in a row, then we're off for a week. We work 36 hours one week and 48 hours the second week, so we get about 8 hours of overtime each 2 week pay period.
  2. Hospital policy where i work is to put 25mg promethazine in a 50cc bag of NS and give it piggyback. I either do that or inject the promethazine into a liter bag of NS or LR if it's gonna be a bolus.
  3. Shy guys

I used to drink a tall boy or two before my Speech class.......it helped a lot. Well, it made the class more fun.
  4. Meridian MS RN pay

What did you find out at the interview?
  5. 12 hour shifts

We work seven 12's in a row. On the bright side, I get a week vacation every other week!
  6. "You know you are an ER Nurse when..."

One of our doctors brought us some bumper stickers that say, "I'm an E.R. nurse...I'm here to save your [rear end], not to wipe it! I'd have put it on my truck if it had sad "kiss" instead of wipe!!!
  7. Send your best success vibes my way!!

Good luck. No matter how you prepared, CALM DOWN!!! It will be ok. If it turns off at 75, I think you did well. If you see question 76, at least you know you haven't failed! Think about it that way and DO YOUR BEST!
  8. 16.50 Starting Wage for a Grad Nurse???? Oh No! Say it Ain't So.....

$16 and a half at Rush
  9. Discharge orders you'd LIKE to write!!!

  10. Er Salary

Where are you working? Is that BSN?
  11. Waiting for RN NCLEX results!!!

I took my test on the 10th of Jan, and found out I passed right after 1 am on Friday the 13th. I took 89 questions that seemed an awful lot like the questions we got on tests in school. Now the real learning begins!
  12. Slow your roll, please. We also need to realize that the air we all breathe is 21% oxygen. 17% oxygen respirations are better than no respirations at all. Just keepin' it real.....
  13. Funny patient names by nurses

Had an older lady in a few days ago: first name is Truelove.
  14. Discharge orders you'd LIKE to write!!!

Hahahahaha... Hey! That does really hurt!
  15. Discharge orders you'd LIKE to write!!!

It's not really discharge insructions, but I got in trouble the other day for telling a drunk patient with no other problems to stop taking the O2 sat probe off of his finger because I was tired of charging them out and paying for them. What's up wi...
  16. Are there any not-for-profit hospitals in San Diego?

"Foundation" hospitals are usually not for profit because all the money they make is spent on the hospital. Foundations get awesome tax breaks, too. It's just a big circle of money.
  17. Anyone from the Meridian area?

I'm from Meridian, but I have been to Collinsville a few times!
  18. Am I weird or what?

Thanks a bunch, I think it'll be a good first step to a career.
  19. Am I weird or what?

I graduate from my little ADN program in just over a month, so I'll take the test around the end of December. Baby, your "do questions whenever you can" prep method sounds a lot like the way most of our teachers have told us to prepare. I'll give i...
  20. ER Dept Scrub Color

I like that better than white, but i think color-coding staff is better. I just hate white scrubs. Technically, they aren't really scrubs.
  21. ER Dept Scrub Color

I concur, but all white looks better than pink pants and a top with smiling frogs on it!
  22. Failed my drug screen!!!

    Airborne: All the way, everday!
  23. RN to PA

Thanks to all who replied. I'm from central Mississippi, so I can't really see going anywhere near the Dakota's. I also can't see myself doing the NP thing. I think I'd enjoy being a PA after i get my BSN, might try for surgery.
  24. RN to PA

Can anyone give me some insight into the RN to PA process?
  25. ER Dept Scrub Color

Hospital policy is for nurses to wear white scrubs...top and bottom. The ER nurses usually wear white or the hospital scrubs after they get "stuff" on the white ones. They can basically wear whatever they want.
