  1. I'm in Dayton, OH. I graduate in May and already have a job. We have hospitals all over the state hiring like crazy.
  2. You should be fine to take the NCLEX when the hold is removed from your account. Just make sure you follow up with the nursing dept so they see the hold is gone.
  3. all of these questions are basically dependent on the school's you'd be looking at. Basically, yes it will take longer to bridge from ASN to BSN rather than going straight for BSN, exact time depends on the program but probably 5 years total. Though if you're working as an RN you could probably have your employer pay for your BSN. This is the cheaper option usually. Speak to an advisor or check online for how long the individual programs last.
  4. Is this really for a grade or to see where you're at now and to repeat later?
  5. Stay with your parents as long as humanly possible
  6. I agree with shadowing. You have to really be sure you want this to succeed in the program. It's not easy.
  7. We have no say. It's in our handbook that clinicals will be within 30 miles of campus. Doesn't matter where you live.
  8. Sociology is a pre-req in most BSN programs. I'd do some research and see what works for you. Wright State and U of Cincinnati both do online programs.
  9. We don't have access to her chart so you need to keep utilizing the staff and her chart. What's the timing on her medications? Are they current or did they have an end date that already passed? Can you do oral care on her (that's an easy one) if her mouth is dry? Does she have limitations to her ROM that would impede you moving her? Prioritize and plan.
  10. Another mom here! Single mom of a 5, 7, and 9 year old and in my second semester of nursing school!
  11. Right 2.7 is the minimum. Remember that there are only so many seats and you're competing with students who have well over a 3.0. I don't think anyone in my cohort has less than a 3.0.
  12. At the program I'm in you'd be on thin ice. You can only retake 2 science classes. You'd have zero wiggle room and really need to step it up to be competitive.
  13. I'm in a BSN course with many community college credits as are many in my cohort. Your performance is what matters most.
  14. Are these mandatory fairs in your area? Typically they will stay off your back if you do "x" amount of job activities and you pick where you apply and what job fairs you attend. Hopefully it's not the much different in your area. My ex husband was on unemployment for quite some time and it took almost no time to fulfill the weekly requirements which they almost never checked. Get this semester out of the way and actually get into the nursing program before you worry about the next step.
  15. It doesn't take a lot of work to attend a job fair or apply for a job.
  16. The local community college is your best bet. They will let you take it and pay out of pocket. Unless you are already in poor standing there, there's nothing that would change that.
  17. SInce you have an idea of the school you'd like to attend, contacting a nursing advisor is the best bet. I managed to squeeze my high school chem class in as a pre-req so I could go straight to O Chem. It just had to be within 10 years. Now do I recommend that to other people? Heck no! Stay current! You really just need to check the requirements of your school.
  18. Wright State University in Ohio
  19. I took on a similar class load and had to cut back my hours significantly. If I didn't have kids, it would've been no problem maintaining those hours and still getting As.
  20. I'm sure you'll be told any specific supplies you need
  21. You might consider doing an accelerated program once you finish your prereqs since you have prior degrees. To do an online program you have to already be an RN. There is no online RN program. Only BSN and MSN. Your previous degrees aren't that important honestly except in that you could possibly do an accelerated program if one exists in your area. It is to your advantage to apply for FAFSA. Whether or not you qualify is questionable but you'd definitely want to check. It seems like you might want to meet with advisors from the school you're interested in.
  22. A drug you are prescribed is not what they're really looking for in drug tests at school.
  23. Jealous math isn't required! We have to take statistics. I just recommend being prepared to retake the class you failed so it won't destroy your GPA
  24. I think if you want your disability taken into account most programs need you to officially register your disability
  25. Wright State University in Ohio's minimum GPA is a 2.7 but they typically are taking students which much higher GPAs since it's a very competitive admissions.
