  1. I am in the process of training expert nurses in India to pass nclex and I have skilled nursing homes and agencies here who'd be interested in hiring. I need to figer out the legalities of it and how to proceed. I know that I should get my company incorporated, get a website, probably get a lawyer who'd handle immigration. What else would I need. Advice, suggestions?
  2. I have been training in MSICU for 2 months now. I can handle 2 stable patients. But with the training 5 days a week. I don't have much energy to open up my books to read about new concepts. I am absorbing a lot at work. The docs look at me like, what do you mean you don't know pt's abgs by heart. I mumble and stumble through the day, trying to connect dots. Amist all of this I really enjoy nursing, the work, the role, the management of multidisciplines and all of that. But it is so exahausting, I run around like a deer caught in headlights, to say the least. Most of the times I look really underconfident, and rightly school. hey, I barely learnt how to give IMs in nursing school. And my hubby reminds me everyday of the promise I made during nursing school-start trying for a baby once I get done with school. I am 29 y.o and he is 33. And I've been thinking of starting my rn-bsn asap. Suggestions, advice. I'll be doing 3 12s once I am done with training.
  3. Thankyou Suzanne for your input. As much as I am dying to have another job and love "if this didn't work out, I have the 2nd job" attitude. This isn't the right time. I am going to wait atleast 6-8 months before I interview for the 2nd job. One j.o.b is enough work and I am exhausted by the end of the day.
  4. But I am not sure if it'll fit in my schedule. I am orienting on days (8 hrs)x 5 and will subsequently move to nights (12 hr)x 3, after the training. I'd like to start on a psych unit, right now I am on the ICU. I know, odd combination but these are the 2 that I love. Any ideas on how I can fit full time or part time 2nd job with this. Most of the hospitals I interviewed in nor cal offered 12s.
  5. I want to do RN_BSN, so I can apply for a reputed MSN program (on campus). My question is how do universities(such as usf) look at graduates from online schools. P.S Even if it doesnot say "online" on the degree, schools that I apply to would know -its going to be on the resume, basically, I am not going to hide Also, how does BSN help us further our career, other than being a prereq for msn.
  6. I have started in MS ICU, its kinda scary to see that most of the nurses have been there for a few months, couple years. Is it so hard to stay in ICU. Other floors have nurses who've worked there for 5/10/20 years.
  7. You'll do fantastic, stay positive. I'll pray for you.
  8. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I passed with 75 and hope that you do to. Let us know when you get the result.
  9. I am a new RN starting in ICU, my question is- How should I conduct myself. I am not intimidated by doctors or attendings but by experienced nurses. I am also scared of getting sucked into politics. I listen to people and before you know it I am in the middle of a drama. How should I approach experienced ICU nurses, so that they don't think I am scared of them or hate them. Also I feel like all other new hires are my competetion, they're smart but whenever I ask a question I feel like- they're thinking oh! what a waste of time. How do I conduct myself so that experienced nurses and my manager thinks that I have potential. P.S I suck at schmoozing and joking around. I am good at learning, absorbing asking questions and taking things seriously. I have started smiling now, so that helps. Appreciate any kind of feedback, suggestions.
  10. All the best to you for your exciting career, Ms RN
  11. Keep at it, till you get your answer. All the best misscheri
  12. All the best, you'll do great. Stay positive and relax. Breathe during the exam and don't rush. Let us know how it goes.
  13. Dear moonstars, my heart goes out to you. I was in the exact same situation couple days ago. I thought i'd failed and was so sad coz all my plans were gonna go haywire. But after what felt like eternity I found out that i passed. The advice I give you is- Everyone goes thorough this phase, just pull through and it will get better. And keep telling yourself that this shall pass too. Dont even think about not going to the orientation. I'd decided not to go,but eventually dragged myself to the orientation because suzanne, the moderator told me to and I figered she's been dealing with so many of us in the same situation, she must know something. I pray that God will give you strength to get through. All the best and just hang in there. And don't assume that you failed.
  14. an extra week, take it. Knowing that you've given it your 110%, gives peace and confidence which is so very important in passing this exam. A week is a reasonable time. I suggest that you make a schedule and realistically evaluate the difference this extra week will make. I was at the same point where you're at few weeks ago and I took those extra 5 days. Helped me calm down and refocuss. All the best to you.
  15. :rotfl: and its cute, damn right I am going to pamper myself. So, deserve it, woof, nclex is hard work, patience, prayers and you still lose your sanity. I was all over the place. Thanks, siri.
  16. Congratulations, enjoy your work, all the best. :balloons:
  17. Enjoy!! and good luck for you career.
  18. Latest comprehensive saunders book, kaplan course, this website. Going through test questions should acquaint you with latest trends. Also, read the stickies on this forum, really informative. Also, suzanne, the moderator of this board is awesome, read her previous advice as well. Do you have any specific questions?-NO, WAIT I SHOULDN'T ASK YES/NO QUESTIONS, let me rephrase- What are your specific concerns/questions :rotfl: All the best with you prep.
  19. Go in there with a winning attitude and you will do great. I've gone through nclex and let me tell you, my friend, over 50% of it is knowing you can do it. Visualize yourself reading the questions, breathing, eliminating choices, clicking on the right one and moving on at a steady pace. All the best. let us know how it goes.
  20. But you did it anyways, its a great feeling Congratulations and all the best for your career. P.S. I have a new found respect for people who go through nclex, its a mind game, eh..
  21. I saw my name on the BON website this morning at 5 am, started yelling, laughing and crying at the same time, woke up my family- I passed, i passed -best feeling in the world. Thankyou guys, this is phenomenal, I am an RN today. Thankyou Suzanne for your advice, I joined my critical care training prgm and boy, am I glad that I listened to you. I really appreciate the advice, kind words, and support that all of you extended. Thanks for your PMs. Above all, thanks for reasoning and knocking sense into me when I thought I had just lost it. I hung on to every word you guys wrote, THANKYOU. P.S.I feel like a dork because I wrote this 3 days ago- This is not an emotional conclusion, i know i failed. I was reading my previous posts, i was wreck past few days. Glad its over NCLEX
  22. I can't post topics or questions here but knowledge/recall questions which I was easily getting correct in my practice exams, I was just picked the wrong answers during the test, there was no rhyme or reason behind some of answers that I chose. I don't know when I stopped thinking. This just shows how important sleep is the night before the exam and also, overstudying sucks. By the time I sat for the exam I was so sick of worrying about it and wanted to get it over with. I am going to take suzzanne's advice and go to the orientation, they've already paid for EKG classes and I have a 3 week schedule in my hand. I'll do what needs to be done and just suck it up. What really stinks is that my family has to go thorough this roller coaster. My career is important but at what expense, I am so not fun to live with since the start of nursing school.
  23. I dont think i'll pass, I just found out I had couple questions wrong in the beginning plus several others that I know i answered incorrectly. My mind was fogged this morning when I was answering. I took more than 2 minutes deciding on each question. Should I just call my employer right now and save the humiliation of getting fired later (no tech positions available), and having to explain to my coworkers and my classmates.....ah, i am going nuts. And taking a spot in orientation when I know its going to be a waste. What do you guys suggest.
  24. Hope you pass, I'll keep you in my prayers.
