Health South Rehab Hospital?
I have to say I totally agree! As a new grad i do not recommend them. Esp. in the houston conroe area! All they care about is filling the gaps..not how much exp. you have! They just want to get the job done without consideration of your lic. or the pt.s safety! Im learning the hard way!

So what do you do?
Talk to your school. I dont even think they start clinicals till late in the semester. You should be okay. I would deft. call and speak to them.
-
Freaking out!!
I belive that the clinical days are one day a week. You have to be at the hospital by 6:30 and will not get out till 7:00. You will be expected to be there. There are a couple of 24hr daycares in this area. I think one is off cypresswood going towards Treswick right after aldine westfield. Im sorry I dont know the name. There also is one by northwest hospital off 1960. I hope this helps..

wow I forgot about this post. i graduated in May and I start my new job in Aug as a school nurse perfect hours to were i dont have to worry about my kids. My parents were a great help thru school but i felt guilty asking my parents to help watch my kids any longer. Its not that they mind in fact they enjoy it, but it is not there responsibilty to watch my kids. I do feel like I am missing out in the hospital seen but I geuss you do what you have to do. Thanks

How is the first semester in the LPN program?
I am on my last semester started in May, you will do fine. I found it to be pretty easy. Dont get me wrong it gets stressful. Its more time consuming then anything so much to do but not enough time. If you study you will do great. I have a 4.0 and I didnt even graduate high school. LONG story. I found that it is easy to understand the material and you can relate it to something you or a family member has experinced before therefore its easier... goodluck

Does anyone regret becoming an LPN?
Do I regret becoming an LVN? No! well not yet atleast I have 2 more months to go before i can call myself an LVN. But I did get my associates before deiciding to go the LVN route. were I live it is very hard to get into the RN program. so I thought at least with the LVN program I am starting the process. you know the LVN program is the first year of the RN program, so you really are not losing anything. I plan to work for a year then hopefully get accepted into the transition program. I have talked to alot of nurses thru my clinicals and they have told me that I am doing it the best way. I will come out with so much more knowledge. and I will be a better nurse. so far I love the LVN program and have done very well. I hope to do as well in the transition program. There are alot of places for LVN to work but my goal is to do labor and delivery and I need my RN for that but working as an LVN will give me my basic skills and the confidence to work were ever I choose later in my career

North Harris/ nhmccd
I applied at an 11.01 my friend had an 11.10 and neither of us got in, not even as an alternate and this was last jan. Start date was this August. I think they had over 800 applicants for 140ish seats. Good luck but unless you have all A's in A&P pysc. english and really high hesi scores your chances are limited not impossible just limited. I wish you the best.

LPN to RN...need advice...
hi im in the lpn program in texas. I have spoke to a lot of rn's that have done what you want to do and they say that is the best way to do it! So dont distress it doesnt matter how you get there just as long as you get there. Right? Basically the Lvn program is the same as the first year of the RN program atleast thats what I have heard.

Dallas,California or Seattle? Which place is better for RN and family?
I have lived in all 3! not quite seattle but the Tacoma area.. My choose is Texas could not wait to get back.. Dont get me wrong I liked all 3 but Texas was more affordable, better bigger homes for half the money, better schools in my opinion.. texas is HOT!! But I love it here.. California is beautiful and so is washington. I couldnt stand the constant rain in wash. It made me crazy. California I could never afford to buy a home and live comfy.. But it really depends on you.. I hope you make the right desicion

Anyone from The Woodlands?
it all depends on were you decide to live every area is different. I would get on har.com and mess around on it. It will give you a better idea .. If you cant find it that way it is houston area realtors.com Houston is very large and has a lot of suburbs and every area is different even if it is 5minutes away. but that website should be able to help you it has a lot of info.

Anyone from The Woodlands?
yes I live near by. And It is a great community! There are several hospitals in the surrounding area! St. Lukes, memorial the woodlands, Conroe hospital, Tomball hospital, northwest. And then there is medical center which isnt to far. As for the salary im not sure im in nursing school right now. Im sure it is not as much as california, but the housing is so much cheaper. The woodlands though is a pretty expensive place to live. But there are other areas that are close and just as nice for a little less. I live in spring which is about 5min away. If you want to have an idea of the housing market try this web site http://www.har.com you can enter were you want to live and your price range and it will give you a list of homes for sale. it will show you what the home looks like etc. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Health Insurance!!!
I dont know if this helps but when my husband got out of the army we had no insurance for awhile till he found another job. during that time I found out I had a tubal pregnancy needless to say I was left with a large medical bill that I could not pay.. The hospital told me of a program that helped families that wre in a lower income rage you fill out the paper work and if you qualify the hospital will write off your charges. I still had to pay for the doctor but not the actual hospital charges.. You might want to check into this, if you are left with bills that you can not pay!!

you might want to post this in the texas forum

Anyone else waiting
All 3 colleges have the same point system just because the math is still on the application does not mean they are using it. More than likely her points are the same for all 3. colleges. I know how you feel I met a friend when I started a couple of years ago and we do everything together. but her points are higher than mine. With an 11. she might be on the alternate list.... I wish both of you luck and I hope y'all are put together

Anyone else waiting
