Research RN?
I work in research and we administer investigational pain medications to volunteers post operatively. There are a variety of research indications but acute pain is our specialty. I love that we are a M-F and three 12's operation. Off weekends and holidays. Still some patient care but not high acuity. Being a part of studies that help reduce the needs of opioids is important to me as well.

Are nurses allowed to do research on their floor?
A lot of instances you would need approval from the IRB to perform research.

USAGPAN - Army, VA or civilian route?
the only insight I can offer is that VA employees do get continuing pay on top of tuition but it's an extremely competitive route.

USAGPAN 2017
thats something I was wondering... Can you bring your family with you?? I just have a husband and dog but being away/deployed for a year or more would be pretty rough I think.

Tips for saving money/paying for CRNA school?
While it's not for everyone, joining the military would = free schooling and a paycheck while in school. Sure you have to serve afterwards (and the time commitment varies), but the time would pass either way and the service is invaluable!

Started career at a SNF and now nobody is hiring me
Make sure your resume reflects what you learn. One of my friends worked at a SNF for a year and because he wrote an amazing resume he had tons of job offers when he began to search elsewhere. Play up how much you have learned about different medications, assessment and disease processes. Just a tip and good luck!

Roseman University ABSN (didactic online)
If you are doing ABSN you would essentially be working on your own time. There would be an open lab that you would sign up online for, again kind of on your own schedule. Depending on the length of the the class you would have a review day on campus the day before the exam and then be on campus for the exam. Most reviews are morning sessions (8-12) and the testing can be all day with a longer lunch break depending on how large your "class" is. Most test days for my class of 50 are done by 2. If you are doing traditional BSN its a bit different and I would explain if that is what you are pursuing.

Scary Situation
There was no residency at this facility as well, and the supervisors were talking about this person after he had left. They said that he was "not a good fit" and that he would be off the floor this week. I am not sure what that means as far as if he was reassigned or not but I felt terrible for him. I think a long orientation will help you gain your skills, just be steadfast!

Scary Situation
Are you going into a residency program? I highly recommend that for a new nurse because it is very focused for the job you will be working, if it is not an option I wish you luck and use icufaqs.org as much as you can. I have also seen nurses let go from their ICU positions because they didnt catch on fast enough or werent a good fit. I really hope you make it, but try not to let it get you too down if you dont because you already know of this situation.

Roseman University 18-month Program?
I Only have a few tests left, I think one, and so far all of my tests have been multiple choice or select all that apply. I have had a couple true false questions. Getting a 90% is very doable because with each test you get a group test and that automatically adds Points to your score. Also, You are able to to "challenge" questions and that will save you too! I have never had to remediate is a block but you have more than three chances to pass so you should be all good. There's really nothing to worry about if you have any questions ask me.

Roseman South Jordan Campus
1.BSN 18 month program with didactic lecture in class (worth it) 2. I personally do as I also get a 4.0 on the transcript but can not speak for future cohorts as there may be a change to the grading systems 3.I am actually in clinicals right now (mental health/community health), we are required to get 180 contact hours this block and I have really enjoyed all the experience we are getting. It seems like quite a few hospitals in the area like Roseman students because they are prepared for clinicals well. 4. A typical school day for me is pretty simple depending on the block, lecture or activities from 8-3 with an hour lunch and many breaks throughout the day. Some days we are done by lunch other times it goes up to 3. 5. South Jordan Utah is a beautiful area with mountain views 360*. I personally live in downtown Salt lake city where the rent is more affordable and my commute is about 15 minutes up the freeway. I would recommend if you are looking for rental situation in the area to use KSL.com it is the classified ad and news page that everyone uses here (no one uses CL). Good Luck.

New Grad job offer
I would counter offer or decline... You will find something that's right and if you take the job and keep looking (which I'm sure you'd want to), it would be a lot worse to quit after a short time after they invest training into you... This is just my opinion follow your judgement.

Maybe you can help?
Thank you I have started one... My nursing program was class than clinical and I felt very prepared for each shift so I know I like that style. I'm not opposed to other methods it's just what I did well with!

Maybe you can help?
thank you jpomax! I appreciate you coming back to answer me! Congrats on getting into your program, and after Roseman, I think a front loaded program is the way I want to go.
