  1. NCLEX July Test Takers

Hey everyone! Tested on July 10, went to 133 questions! Thought for SURE that I had failed, waited 4 hours and did the PVT trick and got the "good" pop up. Did it again at 24 hours. But still had to wait the 48 hours to pay for quick results which w...
  2. Last Clinical Rotation :)

Woo! Congrats! I just took my last final last week! Capstone clinical placement and Kaplan test prep left and I'm done too!
  3. "You Have to Get a BSN by 2020..."

The hospitals here will hire ADN RNs with the understanding that they will finish their BSN within 8 or 10 years. Depending on which hospital. It's institutional here, but generally the BSN in 10 rule is key in Central NY.
  4. Studying: Lined Paper vs. Blank Sheets

I'm going to go against the grain and recommend graph paper! It works so well for diagrams, pictures, tables. I've taken all my notes through nursing school on graph paper. It works wonders for me. :)
  5. Syracuse Nursing

I graduate from one of the hospital-based schools in Syracuse this coming December. This thread is making me feel so much better about the job prospects.
  6. Utica ASBSN Fall 2017

Hey guys! I attended Utica ABSN for two semesters. It was not for me personally, I prefer the brick and mortar type schools. I attended back in 2014 so things may have changed... but when I was there it was hard to get a lot of assistance and self-te...
  7. With what you describe as your courses, I'm almost positive we go to the same school. I'm at the end of 3rd semester. I would use PrepU on lippincott if you haven't yet. Try and get up to a level 6-7 on each concept. Don't just study what the concept...
  8. Shoes, uniforms, shower after clinical?

I change my clothes and wash my face usually. Then I throw my scrubs immediately in the wash.
  9. Missing lab for graduation @another school?

Congratulations!!! Maybe see if you can walk with the next graduating class? Just so you can have that opportunity and make your lab hours? Then you will have your nursing school graduation and pinning to look forward to in the next year or so. Exc...
  10. Calculator for drug calculations

I'd just get a simple one. You're not going to need anything more than just the easy 4 function stuff. :)
  11. Any advice on must haves for nursing school

    Definitely a planner!
  12. Drug testing in Nursing Programs? (Anoka Ramsey CC)

I always thought it was weird that mine didn't ever drug test us... Better to be safe than sorry anyway!
  13. No motivation. Gas tank on E

You say it should be easy, but it's NOT! If it was, everyone would do it. You're entitled to be burnt out, that much school will do that. And I totally understand ruts. You can do this, just get over that last little bump. What you're doing is not s...
  14. Dealing with faeces?

You'll get used to code browns. Just keep exposing yourself to it, like you chose to and you'll be fine! I believe in you. :) Personally, I'd take a code brown over suctioning a trach to be honest. XD
  15. Working, Volunteering and Going to School?

I think it's entirely up to how you plan your time. I work part-time and am in my 3rd semester of a 4 semester ASN program. I worked more in my earlier semesters, now there is a lot more studying, clinical paperwork, and clinical prep to be done. I t...
  16. Pomeroy College of Nursing

I don't live on campus, I've heard that living in the dorms is really nice for some students because you live right in the building we have classes in and we all have 24-hour access to the computer lab and skills lab. So you can just go in at 1am if ...
  17. I'm a third semester student, and I'm also really interested in wound/ostomy/continence nursing when I graduate and get my RN. Best of luck to you, and let me know if you hear anything that sounds promising! I've jumped at the chance to run in durin...
  18. Pomeroy College of Nursing

Congrats to everyone accepted! I'm a 3rd semester student at the moment, can't wait to see more new faces next semester!
  19. How do you feel about having other nurses as patients?

I've had a few nurses as patients (I'm still a student). I had one would use the call bell to call me into his room every time he had an ostomy consult because he thought I would like the learning experience. He was great.
  20. Just curious, is this an online school or brick-and-mortar? I've had a crappy experience with a "hybrid program" at one point. An ENTIRE CLASS failing is just such an obvious money grab...
  21. Pomeroy College of Nursing

Hey ROCTJ, Just wanted to chime in and tell you the acceptance envelope is just a regular envelope. Not fancy or anything. Also, if they are interviewing you for a spot in the day program, I think it's probably just a formality. They're most likely ...
  22. Read a book. Enjoy the sunshine (while it's still there), enjoy your family and friends at your own leisure. Lol. -As for preparation. Review your anatomy and physiology a little bit if you feel a little rusty. -Practice/learn dimensional analysis ...
  23. Nursing school struggles

My favorite question by my SO is "when will you be done studying?" lol. Never.
  24. Anxious: Must Get 100% on Math Competency

Does your school have a tutoring center or and avisor that might be willing to look at your work and see what you're doing wrong in the testing environment? Also, yes PRACTICE as much as you can. I'm terrible at math and we have these exams every se...
  25. This makes me disappointed!

Oh no! This is probably the tip of the conspiratorial ice berg!
