Can anyone tell me about DELTA REGIONAL MED CTR?
Are there any better areas to live that are outside of greenville say within 30 minutes or so? Plus would I get good experience working in their ICU? I would like to further my education after working for 2 years or so. Oh yeah thanks for the other replies. Have you ever lived in the Delta at all? There is small towns in every direction from Greenville. If you have to stay in Greenville make sure you stay out pass the little mall that is there. The other side of town is the rough side that is not very safe. My friend said you would do well in the ICU there, just the ER has messy people that work there. Like most jobs do. You will do fine there.GOOD LUCK..

Can anyone tell me about DELTA REGIONAL MED CTR?
Hello, I am from Greenville and I have moved to the Gulf Coast and there is no way I would live there again. The hospital is ok but the town is really below the poverty level. The only good schools are the private schools or Riverside school disrtict. There is a lot of crime just like most places that are below poverty level. I have a friend who works in the ER at DRMC and she could tell you more about it. If you want me to ask her anything special about DRMC I will ask her for you.

MS Gulf Coast Comm College
I recieved my packet sometimes in May, I think. I thought it was crazy that we had to buy our uniforms through the school also. All the extra money for other things will all be worth it in a couple of years. I am ready for classes to start. I sit out this summer and I am bored to death. So I have been reading up on nursing with anything I can get my hands a hold of. Well talk to you later on.

Diabetes/Renal Failure
I am trying to look at it as he will not be suffering anymore if he doesn't make it.It will be hard to do but as long as I think of all the good times we had as kids it will be easier to handle. I know we are never perpared to lose a family member but it happens everyday to people. it is a something that I have to deal with then the time comes.

Diabetes/Renal Failure
I am really trying to stay strong, but this is so hard to do. Waiting on the results from the cath lab on what they are going to have to do to him. He is starting to build up fluid in his lungs also. I am praying hard that they can help him. I guess I am more scared that he will not pull through this time. thank you for the encouragement that it is giving me and for talking to me about this.

Diabetes/Renal Failure
It is ok for being blunt, it is what I trying to find out. He does not have good quality to his life right now. He acts like he does not get it that he could die from this or maybe he just does not understand it. He is 33 but he acts like he has the mind of a teenager. Before hurricane Katrina they were talking about a transplant for his kidney and pancreas. But since the storm he has gone down fast and is steadly falling faster. We were told by a doctor he would not make it 6 months and he is still holding on after a year and a half. I know he is not going to be able to take much more with his body in this condition I was just looking for a little hope with him.

CLASS OF 2008, check in!
Name: Carol School: Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College JD Program: RN What area of interest at this time: L/D and NICU Biggest fear: My biggest fear is failing out. I guess I am really just scared of starting this new journey. What you'd like us to know about you: I am a mom of 3 teenage boys and of 2 girls. This is the moment that I have been waiting for for a long time. Finally getting into nursing!!!! After hurricane Katrina hit here I just knew it would be another year before I got into the program, but the school had us back into school with in a month. I am so glad I made that sacrifice and kept going even after we lost everything we owned. I guess I am just very determined that I am not going to let anything stop me from my dream. Good luck to everyone!!!!!!:smiley_aa

Diabetes/Renal Failure
I know you can't really give me answers to my questions, so I am just looking to some hope. How long can someone live by taking dailysis/diabetes? My brother is 33 yr old diabetic and has been on dialysis for 5 yrs. He has gone blind from his diabetes and was born deaf and has been in and out of the hospital so many times I can't keep count with them anymore. But this time I am not so sure he is going to be coming out. He is is starting to have heart trouble now and it's not looking good. They are wanting to do a quadruple bypass on him but doctors are unsure if he will make it through the surgery. I know I should not be thinking so negative, but it is so hard to see my little brother suffering this way. Everyday I ask myself just how much more can he take. I know that some people go through more than this in their lives but it is so hard to have to watch your own family member going through this.

Blood Glucose of 1700!!!
He does need the insulin pump, but we can't get a doctor to do it. They keep saying since he is blind, deaf and in kidney failure it is a waste of time. I told them he is still human and should have all the chances just as anybody else. These doctors here really are a bit off since hurricane Katrina hit here. We just keep praying one will help us soon.

Blood Glucose of 1700!!!
My brother is a diabetic and has been for about 15 years and his sugar goes up to 1600 alot from him not taking care of his self. When his gets this high he can't walk, it paralysis his lower extremities. In fact we just took him to the hospital a few days ago with this and his sugars were over 1600 and pulse was 28. I just knew he was going to die, how he has pulled out of it is only by the grace of God.

MS Gulf Coast Comm College
I have taken online classes at MGCCC. The classes are not hard at all. Most of the teachers tell you what you need to study on there study guide that you get once a week. I only had to take one proctored test and it was a finals for one class. I was taking 4 classes online and only one of my teachers had the one proctored test.

Am I too old?
You are far from being too old. I am 35 and have 3 teenage boys and 2 girls also. I will be starting my nursing classes in August, so No by far are you too old. My mother is 54 and is taking her pre-req. to start nursing next year. You are never to old to want to go back to school and better your self.
