  1. Ditto to everything everyone ALREADY said about traffic here. There are no peak time/low times. Rush hour is ALL hours. Have you moved yet?
  2. I work at Northside, I agree with the other posters about the traffic into and out of the perimeter. The hospital is awesome and they were just voted top hospital on Forbes Best Places to work. I just got a friend hired there and am getting a pretty nice referral fee. I would have even without that cause I love my co-workers and the patients! Good luck!
  3. I have a friend that works in the HR department there if you are still looking at this point. PM if interested.
  4. JMC1 replied to LisalaRN99's topic in General Nursing
Sounds like bullying to me. I agree with the others; continue to maintain your professionalism regardless of her attitude. In the event, it becomes intolerable, then you need to bring it to the attention of your manager. I maintain this sense of obligation/insight: you are not going to work to have your emotional cup filled, but rather your financial cup... you can't pay bills with "friendship." This is not me being cynical, but helping you to keep things in prospective...
  5. Do your research on Northside Hospital. It is the considered "the baby factory"! The couplet ratio there average about 4-5; they use a huge support staff with PCTs and LPNS to help you adequately manage your patient load. Just a thought- I got a mailer last week so apparently they are hiring pretty aggressively. I've worked there previously before taking up travel.
  6. I work here and know a contact in the HR department if you are interested.
  7. Sorry to respond so late- I work at Northside and they have a med/surg internship for the fall they are accepting applications for. Hope that helps!
  8. I am bias, but Northside Hospital is voted #1 BMT Survival Rate, #1 Most Preferred for Surgical Services in Atlanta, #1 in the Nation for Births (the Baby Factory). You mentioned moving in Northwest Atlanta, they have a hospital in Canton, Ga which is close to Interstates 75/575. We are opening a new replacement hospital in 2015. Even with a ADN you could be considered.
  9. Your best bet would be to apply to a internship or residency program being offered by the facility in the area that you are interested in working. Also keep in mind the acuity level you will be working in. Most hospitals want hospital experience to hospital experience (in other words, like skills/setting to like...). So if you want to work in ICU you need to develop those skills are a hospital not a hospice where the set of clinical skills will be COMPLETELY different, as well as the pace of service. Hope that helps!
  10. I have to laugh at babyktchr 's summation about the experiences being a "ridiculous spectator sport where cheetos and mountain dew are involved." Sad but true in so many cases. I love that she left on a positive note...don't be jaded and DO keep your dreams alive. One nurse DOES make the difference to a patient. After all, you join this profession for the love of the people...
  11. I work at Northside and they like nurses with 2 years of previous experience. (I know right, how do you get the experience unless you are given the opportunity?) They do have a residency program for newly graduated nurses but I think Concrete Rose is right, most hospitals do look for those new nurses in the fall for their residency program.
  12. Here is the link of the job post a few people asked for. I replied on another post but here it is again: Northside Hospital - RN Job Fair
