  1. @Libo I just took the CMSRN test last month (02/2019) and I used the Lippinocot Cert Review text. Search Amazon for the ISBN: 978-1496387332. There are lots of used copies for sale on there. It's a great review book that is broken down into sections based on body system and has lots of bullet points. I basically did the review questions at the end of every section and went back and read more about the stuff I wasn't too clear on. At the end of the book there is a full length practice exam (150 Q's). I also used the PocketPrep app on iphone for some more practice questions. I passed the exam on my first try. Good luck!
  2. Greetings all! I am a fairly new RN BSN working in MedSurg but my dream is to work in a clinic setting with an HIV positive population. Are there any HIV certified nurses on the forums? Or nurses that work in this specialty that would like to share how they got there? My HIV positive patients are currently few and far between and I'm not sure how to start off getting experience with this demographic. Thank you SO much for your responses!!!
  3. Thank you for sharing. As sad as these stories are, it reassures me just how powerful nurses can be in someone's life.
  4. I am currently in the program and about to graduate in a couple months. As long as you have a good work ethic and didn't struggle too much in A&P you should be able to get through the program.
  5. My surprise is not only her sweeping judgement of novice nurses but the fact that her profile is completely public and blasting all of that vile language out there ! I think it's awful that her sister received such poor care but I would approach this much differently if you want people to respond to you and take you seriously.
  6. Thank you SO much for this!!! I am working through fluid & electrolytes in school right now, and this explanation is invaluable!!!
  7. Wow. The fact that you took the time to write this post is incredible. Thank you SO SO much. I am in the 2nd week of an 11 month accelerated BSN program and working out the kinks in my study techniques. My previous methods don't cut it for these test question styles and the amount of information I need to learn. This advice is terrific and I am very grateful!!! 😄😄😄😄😄
  8. @dreamgirl15 Thanks for the post. Since this is the Spring 2015 cohort thread, we have already started. No turning back! I have just finished my first week and we certainly hit the ground running in ACE! Personally, I find it to be a lot of work already, but I expected that. It is quite a lot to get a BSN in 11 months. I like my professors a lot and at the end of the day I understand it is up to ME to put the work in and succeed. I've heard a lot of things about the issues with the exit HESI from cohort that just finished up and I understand Drexel is reevaluating their use of it. Any comments on that @dreamgirl15 ? Did you have issues with it? What was Drexel's response?
  9. Hi atj39! I requested to join the FB group. My name is "Geebs Italia". Thanks :)
  10. Okay, so I've decided I am going to make a basic FB account just for the ACE group. I have a friend in a PA program and she said the FB page for her class was invaluable. :) Look for my request!
  11. Hey Jessica! Yes, I actually only use IG as well!! My username is geeberfever :)
  12. I also do not have a Facebook, but would love to find another way to all stay connected somehow! Let me know if anyone has ideas!
  13. Welcome hmr5020!!! Congrats! It's always exciting to meet a future fellow classmate! I think if we form a strong "net" we can all help each other succeed! :)
  14. @Sadiyyah! Good luck to you! Were you already accepted? Or are you just doing application at this point? I'm trying to get in touch with all of my future classmates!
  15. @Sadiyyah -- if you're trying to apply for the Fall 2014 cohort, it may be full. That may be why you can't find the application. Here is the link to the undergraduate application. The program is technically a "transfer undergraduate" program so always follow those instructions when applicable. https://deptapp.drexel.edu/DrexelOnlineApplication/Undergrad/Step1.aspx I hope that helped ! -Geebs
  16. Great suggestions pmabraham !!!! Awesome! I subscribed to this thread so I will have those helpful links when I start my accelerated program at Drexel in March 2015!!!! HolisticRN2016, my advice (just from surviving Bio undergrad) is to make a friend or study buddy! I am usually a lone wolf with most things but I found that having one other person to chat with about things you dont understand or explain to them things that they don't totally get, is SO helpful! It helps solidify the info in your head and sometimes just having someone else rephrase a concept is all you need to have it click in your own head! It's also just really important to have a good support system in your program, even if it's only one person :) GOOD LUCK!!! X, -G
  17. Hello all!! I wanted to start a thread for those accepted into the Drexel ACE program starting in Spring 2015. I am thrilled to be a part of this upcoming cohort and I'd love for any others who are committing to ACE to start connecting!! Looking forward to hearing from you all! :) P.S. Any current/past ACEer's feel free to post words of wisdom, guidance or advice -Gina
  18. Hello again! I just wanted to check in to see if there any newly accepted ACE applicants. I put down my deposit for the Spring semester so, IT'S OFFICIAL! I am so excited!
  19. Hey all! I just found I've been accepted for the Spring 2015 start in the ACE program! I applied a while back, but just got my degree officially done so had to wait for my transcripts to be sent to them. After I sent them it only took a week to get my decision!!! Congrats to everyone who got in!! How exciting!
  20. Hello all---I did not get in (( Unfortunately I had applied after having my worst semester ever at my undergrad school. My family was going through some serious loss. I have actually appealed my admission decision and am anxiously awaiting a new decision. I submitted new transcripts from this past Fall 2013 semester (I got a 3.95 GPA) and my GRE scores from last Spring which I did pretty well on. I also wrote a letter explaining my circumstances and that a single semester does not accurately show my potential and past achievements. I submitted my appeal 14 days ago and their website says they notify you by mail of a decision within 2-3 weeks. Wish me luck all! xoxo -G
  21. I am waiting to hear back from Drexel University...So anxious and excited!
  22. Tracyslei- He said the same thing to me!!! I'm SOOO anxious!
  23. Hey all!!! So I wrote to Evan and I am still anxiously and obsessively checking the portal to see if I've been accepted! Congrats again to any newly accepted peeps!!! I'm so excited and nervous and antsy! :))
  24. slh92088: What is Evan's e-mail address??
  25. Hey all! My name is Gina and I also applied for the Fall 2014 ACE class!! Still waiting to hear back, I have had everything submitted for a couple weeks now. I am finishing up my degree in Biology at Arcadia University. Congrats to all who got in! Pray for me!
