I am a male nurse, there should be NO artificial push to get men into nursing just as there should be NO artificial push to get women into STEM fields. This diversity/inclusiveness BS is getting out of hand. I cringe every time I see that we "need" more female engineers or male teachers....people go where they want.

Literally something that will never be on my radar...ever. I just want my 2am chips and guac.

My school had ACEN before CCNE. From my anecdotal experience, CCNE accreditation is preferred. I suspect that if CCNE pushes this ACEN will need to bend the knee. If they don't they will unequivocally be seen as a second rate accreditation (similar to universities with only regional accreditation). Nonetheless this is huge and it makes me hopeful for things to come.

Question: Has anyone ever had a trans patient who didn't have at least anxiety, depression, bipolar or PTSD in their health history? Are the two related? Chicken before the egg kind of thing? Or does the difficulty of being trans cause the aforementioned issues?

The 3-4 days things is a myth, I have never seen any actual evidence that it benefits a patient to rotate IV sites unless there is infiltration or obvious infection. 40 days is bit long though and I would question why someone would need IV access for that length of time. If it was for antibiotic therapy (discitis, osteomyelitis etc) a PICC should really be inserted and the patient d/c for outpatient infusions.

While NP pay is generally terrible that job is primarily for RNs. I think they threw NP in the chance they get a moron to apply. 25-40 in Cali for a RN is absolutely abysmal in any case.

Lol 23 year olds with comm degrees get paid 125k starting in Seattle when they work for Amazon/Expedia/Google. Nurses scrounge for 60k.....it's pretty much a joke. At least here.

Honestly, for that low of a salary in Cali I rather have a job that is cookie cutter without much autonomy. Why have all the responsibility and scut work without decent pay? NPs wanting 100% autonomy for 135k a year (peanuts in urban parts of Cali)? Why?

Until it is mandated, there is no greater waste of tuition dollars than the DNP. Even with an MSN-NP I have seen 2-3 year programs (even at my school) that are double the cost of my MSN with 0 return. So potentially it would take 6 years of graduate nursing education to get my DNP. Lolwut. Show me evidence that getting a DNP nets you more money and makes you a better provider. Hint: It doesn't. Avoid at all costs...for now.

You should be afraid. Most of the courses are indeed fluff. 500-700 is the average and means schools have liability insurance that won't let you go above that. I pushed the limit the best I could. Your fears are real, good luck.

I guarantee the difficulty to get in far surpasses any NP school out there. Hell, the pre reqs and GRE would deter 99% of NP applicants. "At no time are students required to identify or obtain clinical training sites for their education." Love it. Make no mistake, this is a direct slap in the face to the joke that is the NP education model nowadays. They also have 16 required rotations.... Comparing a novel PA program from an Ivy school to online NP programs is apples and oranges.

It says on their website that there is an on campus visit. Honestly in my mind, I don't think there is a realistic scenario where a NP program (sans clinical) can be done 100% online. Preceptors are often found via students and not paid. Who validates preceptors? Skills? Procedures? Scary stuff. It's great you are graduating but let's be honest, NP school is not a rigorous beast. My big state school had 3 summer intensives and it was definitely not enough...

I am annoyed because it affects me and my salary because they are poor negotiators. I care not for their ego. Full stop.

Unions in my area are completely useless, COl went up 14% in Seattle last year, 13% the year before and they negotiate the same 1.5-2% cookie cutter raise each year. Literally copy and paste each new contract. Thanks for nothing...

One of those cheap for-profits that lets everyone into the program. The thirst is strong in this thread. I doubt there is a graduating class yet.

I am a soon to be ACNP grad and here is my 2 cents. Don't do it. With the rate NP schools are pumping out grads salaries and quality job positions will decline. Ask any floor at any hospital and half the RNs are either in NP school or strongly considering it. We WILL hit a bubble in the next year and new data shows saturation in a large amount of states vs need. Check out the NP forums for more depressing news. You won't make a ton more as a NP because salaries are dropping, not increasing. You'll see new NPs taking 85k jobs out of school, that is simply not worth it for the amount of work you do
