  1. I'll be honest. No one can just make you feel better about this. It sucks. But if you need a positive story then I'd say I've had my license suspended. Yes. Completely suspended. I got it back. I did what was asked of me and I'm now in a leadership position. This will take time. But if I can deal with what happened to me, you got this.
  2. Absolutely just go. I have met so many nurses in recovery that supported me. If you'd like links to online meetings let me know. Hang in there.
  3. I would keep trying. You can def get a good job! I found it better to talk about it compared to not.
  4. I can't agree more. I would strongly suggest you get talk to a lawyer just to see what they say to you in this matter. 100% positive no matter what this won't go away. If you feel that you are an addict the sooner you seek help the better. Hang in there.
  5. Thats amazing! You are a miracle. You have 15 years sober and you didn't give up! If you need help talking about being in recovery to employers I'm happy to talk.
  6. not sure when I said its a choice. If you need help on how to get sober I'd start with AA. Also everyone here is a stranger.
  7. I will message you.
  8. Just being honest with you, focus on not drinking. A dilute urine never came up from me in spam over 5 years of drug testing.
  9. This sounds like another question for your case manager.
  10. Did you have a dilute urine?
  11. Did they say why they couldn't trust you? Mine explained exactly why they could when I followed what they asked.
  12. What did you test positive for?
  13. So in terms of EtG testing. At this point the only way it would be positive if you are still drinking. For the most part, yes they expect you to stop drinking (look at your contract I promise you it says that you can't drink at all - not slowly stop, not 1 drink a day etc...). If you have questions, *ask her*! As far as the paperwork, what does it say? Pretty sure it's going to tell you how often you get tested. EtG was always tested on mine and again, I don't know a single person who's contract said it was okay for them to drink. So expect to just not drink at all. You can do this!
  14. The hair test being negative is awesome. I'm assuming you already paid for this lawyer? I'd still ask for a 2nd opinion. If you have a negative hair test in hand its going to be hard for the board to put you on probation in my experience.
  15. When I interview (and this is just with myself) I’m very upfront. I know any employer can pull my record. Personally I expect that and I have a prepared response. Frankly, even with a previous suspension on my license, I have shown that it’s an asset to my nursing career. When I’m honest with someone about my recovery I either A. Immediately seal the deal for that interview or B. I’d be Er be allowe to work there.
  16. Absolutely it will help. Keep all the documentation!
  17. My record of suspension is also in Nurseys. I was able to get a great job though. You can do this!
  18. Completely agree with you. It's very possible a case like this could be thrown out.
  19. Thats good! I had talked to an investigator 3 months after everything happened. Took another 3 months for the suspension letter to come in the mail. I was enrolled in a monitoring program. But again, it depends on the state. There are stories of waiting longer. Hang in there.
  20. Again, with my state they are required to report everything they can...
  21. CONGRATS!! Enjoy the fact you are working again. IF the BON contacts you, get a lawyer ASAP.
  22. For my state, it does show in my history. But I have a free and clear license. It has not been a problem at least for me after a suspension.
  23. I can tell you when I was under investigation I was able to work at DaVita for months. I was able to work up until the day that BON took an actual action on my license. So keep looking and hang in there.
