  1. Mine took about 3.5 months and finally updated on the website. I was refreshing multiple times per day.
  2. I applied back on 8/16 and everything still says pending... no temporary license either
  3. That’s good to know! I’m almost there, mines the 16th... thank you for sharing this update!
  4. Try emailing them! I emailed them on 9/26 and just heard back today. They stated as of now, they are processing applications from 8/10 and cannot provide me with a time frame. But they did confirm they received the application along with my fingerprinting I had to do. They also said to avoid emailing and calling for updates so they can process applications faster ?‍♀️
  5. Thank you I plan on doing that today! I appreciate your help!
  6. I applied for my license back on 8/16
  7. I’ve done everything through nursys and paid everything, I really hope they would tell me if something was missing. They state they would, so I’m guessing because it’s pending I’m just waiting for the license ??‍♀️ my friend applied in Vermont and had her license approved in 15 minutes!
  8. This is good to know! I have a start date of 10/12 and was fingerprinted back on 8/28... All the website states is pending and I’ve been on hold with the nursing commission for 2 hours so far trying to speak with someone.. I’m glad to know the jobs are accommodating, this makes me soo nervous. I too and transferring a nursing license from IL to WA
  9. I bought the ATI comp predictor book, our school did not offer it but I was able to find it on amazon and it was exactly what I needed. It summarized everything very well and had plenty of practice questions.
  10. Our school was heavily based on ATI and the comp predictor was our exit exam. I would highly recommend also buying the pink ATI comp predictor book and focusing on the areas you know you struggle with. I highlighted and flagged difficult areas. I read about half the book and did practice questions and passed on the first try. Make sure you get a full nights sleep the night before. Our comp predictor was 180 questions.
  11. Make sure it is an accredited nursing school, I checked a year ago and they were not due to how new the program was.
  12. Definitely pay attention to ekg placement, your place of employment should offer a blood draw class and a splinting class and sometimes if you're doing a long leg splint you'll need someone else's help to hold.. Don't be afraid to ask other techs for help especially when you're new! Your new job should give you orientation/shadowing for at least 3-4 weeks as well.
  13. Try to apply to a hospital if possible, it's still very hard work but regardless of what floor I've been on there is always a nurse or tech who is willing to help as long as it is not crazy busy. I have my CNA and currently work in the ER and absolutely love going into work, I even try to pick up extra shifts on occasion. But to be honest it all depends on your coworkers and the work environment, some shifts will always be more difficult than others, you will be absolutely exhausted but in the end if you don't enjoy what you do, try to find a different place to work.
  14. I have not started the program yet, the first day is January 11th. My nursing pre requisite gap was 3.47 and the Teas score was around 80 and landed in the advanced category for the proficiency level. Are you in the program?
  15. Sorry, I mistyped and I need to make a correction it's the 2 year bsn program as long as all the pre reqs are completed. To me it seemed accelerated since you start out as a junior and jump right into the nursing courses [emoji3]
  16. I was taught how to draw blood in the ER as a tech but I took a phlebotomy class at my local community college just to have better comprehension of the different types of draw you can do and equipment needed and more in depth info about tubes, additives, etc (we practiced on each other for blood draws). The first few venipunctures are nerve racking and scary (at least to me they were) but you'll get comfortable with it pretty quickly :)
  17. I know this may be slightly off topic but do any of you know if they have any restrictions on stethoscopes you can use for clinicals (tubing color mostly). I want to order mine before classes start but want to be entirely sure. I searched everywhere in the student handbook and didn't see anything mentioning it. Thank you!!
  18. I received my CNA and started out as a sitter for high risk patients for 7 months (I had no previous experience), then I became a tech on the float pool for about a year and a month or two but knew the ER was where I wanted to be. I'm about 5 months into working in the ER and love it! They also hire nursing students who are have successfully completed a few clinical rotations versus CNA or EMT's.
  19. Try to apply for as many scholarships as possible (even the smallest one makes a difference) and see if your state does grants. (When I received my first degree, the state of IL paid for almost half of my education via MAP and Pell grants). If you must take loans, only borrow what is needed, try to avoid private loans since they have higher interest rates even though they may be based on your credit score. Don't stress out too much over it, if you're trying to narrow down schools, meet with their admissions department or advisors and see how much they cost per credit hour (part time versus full time), if you qualify for financial aid, how they work out payment plans for students paying their way through school, etc. Best of luck :)
  20. I purchased the TEAS version V from ati and liked the practice tests in the book and the review topics. I had one pre req left (micro) before I took the test and did just fine. I also made notecards based off of what I struggled on from the book
  21. I work 7pm-7am and sometimes pick up extra shifts on my day off either from 11pm-7am or 3am-7am. Nothing too crazy about it aside from being night shift :)
  22. Congrats!!! I am attending this spring as well! I'm very anxious, we haven't had an informational session yet, I want to pick out my classes so I can figure out my work schedule as well. I've heard good things about the Erin Condren planner and plan on making that one of my first purchases. I also bought a Lippencott 10th edition nursing procedures book just to skim through and get into the mindset for school :)
  23. I just received mine as well and am working to gather all of the information they need from the checklist that was sent via mail. I'm incredibly excited, congrats to you as well!! Are you doing the accelerated BSN program?
