  1. :yeahthat: I am a young nurse myself (24 y/o). In my limited experience on the floor that I work on; age has not been a factor-skill and competency and the ability to work well with others AS A TEAM is more of a priority
  2. The best approach would be to just tell her that it is inappropriate in this setting... But do keep in mind that she is a new grad (though it is not an excuse for foul language)and may be nervous and trying to adjust to a new setting. I can definately identify with her as a new nurse myself. Many have found it hard to adjust the the new settings and responsibilities that the role has to offer us. I would hope that you would approach her kindly and in a respectful manner, not like a naughty child; hopefully it will fix the language problem and help ease a new nurse into her new role!! Good Luck shawnette RN :)
  3. yeah, I saw it LOL, but my excuse to watch it is a 8 year old brother! lol
  4. I don't know how the pay goes in your state, but here in WV; my BSN degree pays the same (I'm a new nurse) as a new nurse with an ADN.
  5. Do you think that you would have the same point of view if you were going to graduate from a BSN program?
  6. K+ riders to little ladies with nonexistant veins...acually, K+ riders to anyone...
  7. I work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 7a-7p. I like it because on the weekends it seems as if everyone is so much more laid back and you don't have to deal with upper management breathing down your neck.!!
  8. I live in WV and the base pay for most new grads is $17/hr but if you got to a union hospital it is $23/hr
  9. You probably did better than you realized...I found out the other day that I accually did pass!! good luck to you shawnette, RN
  10. :) Hello, I am a new grad (may 10) and as of yesterday a new RN!! I work on a 30-something bed med-surg/tele unit and I love it!! it suprised me though, because when I was doing clinicals in the very hopsital that I work, I swore to myself that I would NEVER do med-surg!! It took my experience during precepting that changed my mind. Through the experience I got a sense of what a true nurse does and what his/her specific role is. I love the variey of patients that I see and the vast amount of experience that I have gotten in such a short period of time ( i started on 6/6). I love what I do!!! shawnette, RN BSN
  11. when i was preparing to take the test, I took a review class that was taught by most of my instructors from nursing school. I bought a Kaplan review book and a Saunders review book, they both had CD's with practice exams on them. I would spend about an hour a day taking practice exams and studing material that I was not really familiar with. about four days before the exam I used my reivew book and went over diseases that I needed to refresh on (mostly endocrine) and that seemed to help. I think that the Kaplan CD was the best because the Saunders seemed too easy. Do what you think is best and study just like you did in school tofind out what works best for you. Good Luck. Shawnette, RN P.S. When I took the exam the only diseases that I was asked about was Diabetes, Pancreatitis, and Myesthenia Gravis. I had a few questions about chemo and chemo side effects. The irony of it all is that I had reviewed that very material the night before the exam! I found out yesterday that I passed and my license was in the mail today...so good luck to you.
  12. KElly, try to be positive, I took my exam on 7/18 and I found out about twnety mins ago that I passed!! I felt the same way when I finished... My computer cut off at 75, I had 6, yes,6 check all that apply questions, one delegation, and tons of prioritization questions. Try to think positive...it will work out in the end. I'll send thoughts your way shawnette RN
  13. Where did the theory, 'if you answered the last question correctly, then you passed', come from? I was just wondering if anyone has gotten the last question right and still failed? I have all this time to wonder about these type of things because my results are not back yet...
  14. I agree, I'm in the same boat. I am the MOST impatient person in the world. Pass or fail, i just want to KNOW!! My husband laughed at me because this morning I emailed the WVBON and asked them just how long they believe the process will take...lol..of course I did not receive a reply. In WV they only offer the quick results for the NCLEX_PN. Because you can do an online lookup for the RN...no luck yet...I'm officially going nuts.. :uhoh21:
