Well I am also a new grad and the LTC facility I am working at gave me six days, the DON told me she she typically give 2 to 3 days but gave me 6 since iam a new grad.......well best of luck

hi everyone!! i am a student nurse:saint: , graduating in 3 weeks!!! i know i want to work in long-term care, because i love getting to my residents and being there for celebrations and all the good stuff. i am nervous, does anyone have any advice that would help me transition from the student nurse roll to the independent ltc nursing roll?? (whew that dropped my stomach) i am soooo excited well thanks for any advice!!

i cant believe i found people who agree with me!!!! i am in nursing school and all i hear is go to an acute care setting and get all your skills, well, well, well, i worked in a ltc facility since i was 15 and working there is what inspired me to become a nurse, so why the heck would i want to go to an acute care setting when ltc is what i love?? just today at lunch some other students were talking about where they were going to work and they say " i hate ltc, you loose all your skills, you will never see me there, blah blah blah", so i was sitting there thinking well good we dont want you in ltc if you feel that way, please dont come, go to the hospital i know you will do great there, but dont put down something when first of all you dont even have experience enough yet to judge any type of care and still should'nt even if you are an experienced nurse! okay now now i feel much better. thank you all you skilled wonderful, ltc nurses, you each make a difference in someones life everyday and deserve respect and know that we can all stick together!!!!

I just wanted to know, how does everyone feel about young (at age) nurses and your experience with one? Please no bashing, just your honest opinion.

Well no one said it would be easy just make sure you do a little each day and try taping the class if allowed and listen to the tape while you read you class notes that helps me alot. When you start clinicals its just going to make more work so you need to learn how to time manage which is a good thing because this will also help you later when you start your career. Dont worry if your doing your best and study a little everyday you will be fine!!!

OK I am really confused! childs lbs.-9.24 order-ampicillian 420 mg. (30mg/ml) Usual Adult dose- 1-12 grams 9.24*1000 --------- = 61.6 150 SAFE RANGE= 61.6-70.53mg 9.24*12000 and the order is 420mg!!??!! ------------=70.53 This is a real pt.!! Am I not 150 calculating right?

Okay, I have been reading threads and have seen I have had 42 pts. or 40pts etc. I am a student and will be on my own in a couple months and I am very nervous about having that many pts. So I wanted to ask everyone how many pts. do you have on average (oh yeah I am speaking to LTC) and do you really feel its safe to pass meds administer tx and whatever else comes up during a nurses unpredictable day? Thanks for all and any replies!!! ( I love these dancing guys!!LOL)

well you do have 45 pts!!! i dont think i could handle that i am afraid because i am still a student soon to graduate and i could not see my self with 45 pts! ahhhh!! i dont think its a job i would take personally.

Has anyone taken any good online classes for lpn to rn? I have already looked at the ones shown here on this website i just want to get some comments from someone who has actually taken them.How long did it take you and did you feel you it was easy or hard compared to going to a class? thank you!
