Hi Loryn! I took my NCLEX exam in Hongkong last March. it took 4 months for me to be eligible to take the exam. Once eligible it took about 2 months before i actually took the exam for the reason that many are taking exam in Hongkong and the available date given to me at that time was in March. You do not need ss3 to be eligible to take exam in CA , however you need the SS# to be given a license if you passed the exam.
  2. I just can't imagine how you survive your first day without them telling and showing you how things are done there!! What did you do when the DON tell you to just do it? are the other health team members helped you?
  3. nurse_wannabe, you said it right!! it is scary!!! how do these nurses cope up without orientation?! How can the facility expect someone to function as RN independently when they just started working their and still don't know how things are done there? Just wondering for I might be in that kind of situation in the coming days.
  4. yes i have a hospital experience here in my country but what i am concerned is that our set up here is diffirent from usa, in terms of technology we are far behind as what other nurses told me who are now working in us, aside from that we have to adjust to the language so i am preparing for all that in case i will just be given a couple of days orientation. by reading some of the posts here in allnurses helps me understand how nurses works there.
  5. I was interviewed last April and i received the letter where it asked about the ITR. I think its the ITR of your petitioner if you are being petitioned by a member of family, that is the explanation given to us by our agency. Anyway i did not knew that before, so what I did was I asked the BIR in our city for a certification that I am exempted to file an ITR for my income is not sufficient ( I do volunteer work also). They give me one but well during interview ITR was never asked of me to produce only my Current Job Offer and my Visa Screen and if you passed NCLEX , they will asked for your result and if you dd not have NCLEX you will still be given a visa as long as you have completed their requirements.
  6. Hellow fellow nurses.I am just wondering how many days is the usual orientation time in LTC. I am a foreign nurse and just recently passed NCLEX-RN and I am to start a job in LTC facility once I arrive in US in June. I have been reading all the posts here in LTC to give me ideas and from some posts I read here gives me PALPITATIONs!! It is frequently mentioned the number of patients and short staffing and many more. Being a foreign nurse I know, I know there will be plenty of adjustments and it frightens me somehow to be expected to work independently as RN once I arrive. Any tips and suggestions from you guys is appreciated. Thanks!!
  7. Use also Kaplan Review Book and answer KAPLAN questions. It help me and my friends during our review when we took our NCLEX. SAUNDERS is also a good review book.
  8. God answered my prayers. I found out Today I PASSED NCLEX!! I want to thank everyone here for their replies and this website help me in 3 weeks of waiting for my result. The agony of waiting is over. THANKS!!
  9. Suzanne, Hi! once again you are right!! I did passed NCLEX exam. I have to thank you for your last post believing that i will pass like the others before me who are feeling the same. I will have my embassy interview first week of April so knowing the result before the interview helps since my employer will now send me the final job offer to be presented to the embassy. Once again thanks!!
  10. Thank you again Suzzane. Words and encouragement given by everyone here alleviate some of my anxiety regarding the result, that is why I kept coming back here from time to time. I stopped looking at CA website since I could not see my name there even if i pass coz I still dont have SS#. Anyway time spent here is not wasted since you also learn from the questions and answer posted by nurses regarding our profession and practice.
  11. Hi Suzzane, thanks for the reply. I am a foreign nurse and I dont have SS# yet. I already have a CGFNS certificate. Although I still dont know the result of my last exam since CA takes so long to release result, I already start studying after a one week break just to keep my mind occupied. I have read one of your posts that if you are a foreign nurse dont contemplate taking it in CA, I dont know if I got that right. Anyway the waiting period for the result in CA is very stressful that is why if ever I have to retake I dont want to do it in CA.
  12. Hello nurses, I just would like to know how long should a nurse wait to take NCLEX exam after failing. I heard of 45 days and 90 days. What state is 45 days? Is California one of them? What if I decided to retake not in California but in another state like Arizona, how long should I wait?
  13. I agree that if you have the money pay for your own expenses rather than be at the mercy of the agency. I have signed a contract and now i'm stuck with it. Many of us who signed up with our agency are regretting it but as of now we can do nothing about it but just comply with whatever they say and just hope that our agony with them will be over.
  14. I took mine last March 2 and until now , 15 days still no result. Lets just hope that we pass and never to suffer this kind of agony again.
  15. Its been 15 days since the exam and still waiting. Most of the post i have read here regarding NCLEX result in Cali , most received results on third week for a foreign nurse. Well if that is the case for me to wait 3 weeks, I have to wait one more week.
