  1. It is so great to hear that I am not alone this May. Once again. congrats to all of you. I had my pinning this evening, and graduation tomorrow. WOW!! I just cant wait and dont think I will get much sleep tonight either due to the anticipation, not to mention praying that the hubby doesn't use that megaphone he says he rented...lol It has definately been a long hard road for both me and my family.
  2. Hey everyone. Was just wondering how many will be graduating in May 2006. I am so excited to have accoplished what I was always told I could not do. Well here I am about to graduate this Friday. Now if i can just pass the NCLEX..lol. Anyway..was just wondering how many of you will be sharing in the excitement of all we have accomplished, and how many will be going on to study for RN. As for me, i think i will take the summer off to spend with my two beautiful boys, who have felt totally neglected this past year, and then re-evalutate my plans in the fall. :balloons: TO ALL OF YOU I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND A HUGE CONGRADULATIONS!!!!! :balloons: I KNOW YOU HAVE ALL WORK JUST AS HARD AS I HAVE.
  3. Hang in there Janice you still have a chance for an A, but if not a B is still an awsome grade for A&P. Keep up the good work.
  4. YAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! I just found out that I was accepted into the nursing program for the fall semester. I am so excited. I got 22 out of 26 pts. I cant wait to finish up with summer, and get started...
  5. YAYYYYYYYYY I just found out I passed A&P I with a 99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ranked #3 in my class of 55 students. Now I'm moving on to A&P 2 starting tomorrow on July 8, so count me in for summer II. I will be going W-F 5:30 to 10:00 pm and Sat. 10 - 2 am. Hope I will get time to come in more often to keep in touch with all that is happening. Will keep my fingers crossed for everyone.
  6. well i am headed into my final week of A&P I. I am so lucky, I have just found out that my final test will only be over the last three chapters we studied.. YAYYYYYY. So far I have an A. I cant beleive that most of you only have a day or two in between A&P I and A&P II. I have a full week, New Mexico here I come...lol. It will be good to get school off my mind for a few days. As for the difficulty of the class, it was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I will report back when I get my final grade. Congratulations to all of those who have already finsished.
  7. Here is one for those of you who have computers, and microsoft office. I make up power points. I actually make up test questions, and make two slides per question, one for the question, and one for the answer. This makes it alot like flash cards only a bit better. I even take digital pictures in lab, label them, and put them on the slides so that i can drill myself with them. This can be quite time consuming, but you are still learning while you are making them. You would be amazes by how much it helps.
  8. Hello everyone, Sure wish i had seen this thread earlier. I started A&P I on May 21. I have not found it to be that hard as of yet, but we are just now starting on the bones. YIKES!! Actually I think how hard a subject is depends on the Professor. We study 3 chapters, and then take a test over it. Also we will not have an actual final over all that we covered. It is looking like I have a pretty good chance of being accepted in the LVN program in the fall. They will go on my PSB score, which i made a 14 out of 18 pts; my nutrition score, which I have an A (4 pts) and my A&P I which i hope to have an A. that would give me 22 pts out of a possible 26 pts, which they say ppl rarely get. Of course that is just to get accepted into the program, and is dependant upone passing the other core classes. Does anyone elses school work like this?
  9. Hi everyone. I am just starting my journey to becoming a nurse. not sure if this website has been listed yet, but i was doing a web search and found it quite interesting. I think it will be a big help to me, and wanted to share it with you. http://mandevillehigh.stpsb.org/2005site/teacher_sites/laura_decker/biology2.html it has some very graphic pictures of actual disections, as well as links to other sites. I hope you all will find it usefull.
  10. I am just starting my prereqs. I will be taking nutrition in a 3 week mini semester starting May 16 through June 2, then A&P 1 in a 6 week summer 1 semester starting May 21 through July 2, then A&P 2 and life span in a 6 week summer 2 semester starting July 11 through august 10 ...phewwwwwww hope i can handle all that. It will be really tough i know, but i am trying to get into nursing in the fall.
  11. sorry i havent been on lately...you all know about being pre occupied im sure. Thank You all so much for your support. It really helps a bunch.
  12. omg...this stuff is just crazy..and i thought i was a nut job for taking my kid (who has astma) in for coughing non-stop.. this was before i got the nebulizer btw.
  13. thank you very much for you support Z....they are 5 and 2...and as i mentioned earlier...very energetic.
  14. OMG i fear i will have to pencil my kids into my schedual just to give them a hug.
  15. Hello everyone. I have not been coming here for long, but found this site very helpful so far. I am a 32 yr old wife and mom of 2 very energetic little boys. I am about to dive in head first (I think) into my pre-requisites. Would someone please tell me if I am trying to take on too much at one time? I will begin with taking my nutriton in a mini semester that begins in May. Then go into my A&P 1 for summer 1(starting in mid may) this means my mini, and summer 1 will overlap for two weeks. and next my A&P 2 and life span for summer 2. Now this might not sound too hard for some of you that have already made it through, but not only am i going to be juggling being a wife, mom, and student, but we also have a roofing company, and rental property....YIKES!!!!!!!! I want to be a nurse so badly, but am i trying to take on way too much at once? Is this really possible, or am i just really out of my mind?
  16. wow you guys are scaring me now. I will be taking A&P 1 and nutrition for summer one, which is six weeks, and then A&P 2 and Life Span for summer 2 which is also six weeks.. Am i taking on too much? I also have two young boys, and a husband to deal with, and I have not gone to school in 16 years. I am trying to get into the nursing program for the fall semester. Wish me luck, and Pray for me. Amy
  17. I have not even begun nursing school yet, but the first thing that came to my mind was that the doctor should have took the girls medical history into account, and ordered an MRI from the beginning. I cannot see that the mother is at fault in this situation. I know from experiance that things can show up long after an accident, and the doctor should have know this as well. The headaches in themselves should have put up the alert sign for him.
  18. Yup, I wonder too, along with c-secs, episiotomies, etc etc etc I am not a nurse, but about to start my pre-reqs. I can tell you that hysterectomies are definatly done unnecessarily. I had a doctor try to give me one when i was 23, and told me i could never have children. I now have two wonderfull little boys. 5 and 2, which btw are both circ'd. Dads decision of course.
  19. WOW CHUCK . I also live out by the cosden plant...it is really cool to meet ppl so close to home.. What a small small world this is.
  20. wow you said it . I also think that everyone in the medical field is a vital part of helping ppl to get well..no matter what thier title.. Everyone has a job to do, and if that job is not done, then the goals of the hospital are not being met. Now i am not a nurse as of yet, but i have worked as a cna in a nursing home. The cna's are the ones that work the with the patients the most. I Know that i made a difference to several patients. the title makes no difference, its what is in your heart of hearts that matters most.
  21. Hello everyone...Wow i didnt realize when i joined just yesterday, that i would see ppl from west texas!!!! I am from Big Spring. I will be starting my A&P this summer. I am also a nervous wreck. I am going back to school after 16 yrs. I am so afraid that i have forgotten all the basic knowledge they teach you in high school, so the thought of learning the new stuff is really scarry. YIKES.
  22. I am just starting as well. At my school, you do not have to take the nurses entrance exam before you can apply, but you do have to take it to be accepted. In fact you can actually wait to take it untill after you have taken your Pre-reqs. Also .. here you can take it as many times as needed.
